Pittsburgh police arrested the Executive Director of the county's Republican Committee over the weekend for allegedly yanking his 26-year-old girlfriend from the car and punching her, according to the affidavit filed Saturday in support of the arrest.

John Schnaedter, 36, is charged with one count of simple assault and released from the Allegheny County Jail on non-monetary bail, court records show.

A witness on Bailey Avenue called police after he saw a man, later identified as Schnaedter, and a woman arguing in a Jeep parked on the street, according to the criminal complaint. He told police he heard a woman screaming and saw “fists swinging,” followed by the woman lying on the sidewalk.

Schnaedter had taken off by the time police got there, according to the complaint.

The victim, Schnaedter's girlfriend, told police the two had been arguing about “petty stuff” in the Jeep and he had yanked her from the vehicle and punched her, police wrote in the complaint.

Why is Allegheny County condemned to decade after decade of rule by Democrats?

Because Republicans here really are THIS STUPID!

I agree. After Roddy and his treatment of Melissa Haluschak in 2012 I’ve disassociated from the RINO committee of allegheny county. They have no special desire to challenge the progressivist idiots around here, refusing to run candidates for sheriff, mayor, city/county council, or US congress and they silence any conservative who does step forward willing to seek office. It’s to the point I seriously believe they collude with the Democrats who run this area. Disgusting.

Correction: 2010. Melissa ran on her own dime as a challenger to Mike Doyle for the 14th congressional district and got ZERO support from Roddy and the RINO committee. Alas, we are stuck with the architect of the Stupak Sellout who had a large role in bringing you Obamacare

Because the old blue hairs and the college students will pull the lever for Dems no matter what... We had sherman the boy mayor, and now we have Peduto the poofer/douche mayor.

I’m told that the core problem is too many influential Republicans make their living underwriting, or being involved in the legal work for, municipal bond issues.

More Democrats = more public spending = more money in their pockets. So no stinkin’ Conservatives need apply.

Peduto is vulnerable.

His conversion of useful roadways to bike paths has ticked-off a whole lot of local commuters. Constituents want him focused on patching potholes and not making Pittsburgh the gayest-friendliest city on the planet. Those same people do NOT want him asking for more Syrian refugees. Cops hate how he’s mismanaged the PD. And he is fundraising in the suburbs which displeases city dwellers greatly.

A Trump-like campaign could take him out at the knees.
But this GOP is not even remotely prepared for that.

Trust me Peduto isn’t going anywhere, he’s an idiot but he’ll win re-election by 10 points plus easily. His sanctuary city nonsense alone should have him wearing cement slippers and found in the river.. but he’s a Dem and Pittsburgh is not going to vote in a Republican mayor... hard enough to win a county wide office as a republican, no chance in hell a republican is taking a citywide elected office anytime soon.

I agree with you. The right campaign, cleverly run, could upend the democrat machine for all the reasons you cited but especially because of the climate in the police department right now. Unfortunately, the GOP committee is spineless, weak, Never Trump types who are more interested in advancing themselves rather than the common good
