Unanimous: Senate Confirms Dr. David Shulkin to Take over Veterans Affairs
Breitbart ^ | Neil W. McCabe

Every Democrat joined every Republican in voting to confirm Dr. David Shulkin as the next man to run the Department of Veterans Affairs in a 100-0 vote.

Speaking on the Senate floor shortly before the vote, Sen. Susan Collins (R.-Maine) said she was thrilled by Shulkin’s nomination, and it was one of the few things Republicans and Democrats have agreed on recently.

Collins said that she was especially impressed when Shulkin kept a commitment he made to her in a private meeting and visited the only veterans hospital in Maine with her.

“I was truly impressed and remain truly impressed with Dr. Shulkin’s understanding of the needs of rural veterans and the challenges of providing health care in rural settings,” she said.

“While in Maine, Dr. Shulkin listened to veterans, health care providers, VSO advocates, and the VA staff alike,” she said. A VSO is a veterans services organization, such as the American Legion or the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

President Donald Trump confounded observers with the Shulkin pick because he was promoting from inside a department he routinely criticized while he was on the campaign trail.

A warning we received this morning.

Tuesday, February 14, 2017

06:23:00 AM

Good Morning folks,

A strange thing happened in the US Senate yesterday;

On the Confirmation Dr. David J. Shulkin, of Pennsylvania, to be Secretary of Veterans Affairs the vote was 100 Yeas and 0 Nays, even the infamous Republic and US Military haters, King of Maine, Schummer of NY and Markey and Warren of Massachusetts voted Yea.

Think, why would King of Maine, Markey and Warren of Massachusetts vote Yea along with Cruz of Texas?

I don’t know, but this I do know, we had best keep a very sharp eye on Dr. David J. Shulkin, of Pennsylvania, the new Secretary of Veterans Affairs.

A Trump nominee with 100% vote!? He may have angle’s wings and a halo.

Collins isn’t a republican. She is a conartist rat.

I am hopeful. My worry is that now matter how dedicated Dr. Shulkin is, as long as the VA is unionized, his efforts will fail.

I thought the Senate was at 99 after Sessions became Secretary - did I miss that he was replaced?

Alabama Gov. Bentley named Luther Strange to replace Sessions last week.

I am also wondering why Trump would hold over an Obama appointee. Apparently he has been in the position for 2 years, or so. Have there yet been any demonstrable changes for the good, under this guy?

I don’t want him.
He may be a good, or even a great doctor, but he’s not a veteran.
I want a veteran to be in charge of veteran affairs. A good VA administrator needs skin in the game and good organizational skills not medical skills.

Shulkin was a loyal member of the Obama administration. Of course the Dims would support him.

Oh, for heavens sake. First Al Franken in the committee hearing for Jeff Session (verbal sewage directed at both Cruz and Sessions) and then Lizzie Warren in the US Senate were so far over-the-top with character assassination that a few US Senators spoke out against the disintegration of civility. The garbage they spewed was so bad they can’t walk it back. Voting 100% for someone might be a step toward again being a functioning part of the government.

If all the RATs voted for him, I reflexively look upon him with suspicion.

If franken and warren were rational human beings instead of irrational rabid dogs, I might agree with you, but they are not rational, they are Rabid irrational Dogs.
