Prosecutors in Puerto Rico have smashed a ring of current and former U.S. Transportation Security Administration workers that allegedly smuggled 20 tons of cocaine worth as much as $100 million into the U.S. over more than a decade.

A dozen members of the alleged ring, including TSA workers and airport employees, were indicted Feb. 8 in the District of Puerto Rico on charges of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine, U.S. Attorney for the District of Puerto Rico Rosa Emilia Rodríguez-Vélez announced. Authorities said the federal employees used their positions as TSA baggage screeners to wave massive amounts of coke through security.

20 tons of cocaine worth as much as $100 million

Did they really think the CIA and DEA wouldn’t notice someone cutting in on their action?

So the drug dogs didn’t smell the drugs?
How can TSA clear baggage without inspection as part,of their normal policy?
God know what else they are smuggling.

Probably got caught the same way the airline guys get found out, by driving those new Lamborghinis and Maseratis to work and parking them in the employee lot.

Per the article - they had a complete ring and were at it even before TSA.

As many as five “mules,” or human smugglers, were used on each flight, with each checking in up to two suitcases, according to authorities.

The ring also included a baggage handler with Airport Aviation Services, Javier Ortiz, who allegedly picked up the cocaine-packed suitcases at the airline check-in counter and put them into the X-Ray machines monitored by the TSA suspects, who cleared them. After the suitcases had been cleared, Ortiz allegedly took them to their designated flights, making sure no police or K-9 units intervened.

Other suspects included an alleged mule and another person who prosecutors said helped load luggage onto planes.

It will never end till they penalize like some countries do. Shoot them the same day they are caught.

Yeah and my daughter's bag of nuts sent TSA in a dither, causing them to unload everything in her carry on bag and unload eye, nail, bath, dental and makeup articles, etc. slowing down everyone waiting to get scanned, while they swabed each and every item, looking for potential explosives and/or drugs.

This just happened last Tuesday, so I guess if she was carrying cocaine, they'd just have taken their share and sent her on her way, not detaining anyone!

Oh yeah.

I think they should hang the TSA bastards; slow hang, no drop.

Let it be warning to the others that if you abuse your authority, you'll go out with a twitch and a kick.

After being wounded in action I get the privilege of getting felt up by some ASVAB failure every time I fly b/c of the shrapnel, and these sumbishes are helping narcoterrorists smuggle $100 million worth of smack.
