Duncan Hunter, Calif. congressman, to deny funding for sanctuaries in his district
The Washington Times ^ | Thursday, February 9, 2017 | Stephen Dinan

A prominent congressman said Thursday that he won’t help advance any funding requests from sanctuary cities, saying he’s taking a personal stand in trying to stop jurisdictions that refuse to cooperate in deporting illegal immigrants.

Counties, cities and school boards line up each year to beg their members of Congress to put in a good word for them when the federal government is working on its annual spending bills, hoping to garner a piece of the federal pie.

But Rep. Duncan Hunter, California Republican, said he won’t be involved in any request filed by a jurisdiction that tries to thwart federal agents.

[snip]

He challenged other members of Congress to refuse as well, hoping they can exert pressure from Capitol Hill to try to rein in the growing number of cities that say they’ll become sanctuaries.

[snip]

Mr. Hunter’s move goes even deeper, however, resisting cities who seek earmarked funds for everything from construction and road projects to grants.

Mr. Hunter will ask any local government that comes to his office seeking federal funding to certify it’s not a sanctuary, and will also conduct his own review to make sure requesters aren’t thwarting the law.

I California, this will probably cost him his job. This state is off the charts left. Even once conservative areas like Hunters San Diego is liberal.

But kudos to him for doing the right thing.

With all the military that’s in San Diego, major Navy and Marine bases, why is it going liberal?

Decades of flooding it with the demographic from South of the border.

Our wonderful GOPe imported cheap labor, and the DemoRats imported VOTERS.

“Domographics and also people just going with the flow and becoming liberal.”

“Going with the flow and becoming liberal” is not an explanation, any more than “it just happened”. Influx of illegal aliens, and people who should know better choosing to send their children in the Marxist academies aka socialist government schools are the two primary drivers.

We are probably no more than one generation away from the entire country “going with the flow and becoming liberal”. Every single parent who doesn’t want that to happen, who cares about the future of their children, needs to think long and hard about public schooling.

I wanted to vote for his father in a long ago Presidential Primary but he had to drop out before he got to my state. I knew, however that his son would also be a great Congressman!

Duncan Hunter has a problem mixing up campaign and personal spending. Recently, because of local newspaper exposure, he took a $50K - $60K loan to repay his campaign for personal expenses charged to the campaign. The local newspaper is on his case big time, but Duncan doesn't seem to learn.

Duncan Hunter's East County District is different from San Diego County's other Congressional Districts, which have seen illegal alien infestations and also infestations from out of state libtards.

Even Darrell Issa, (District 49) barely eeked out his win this past November.

IMHO, that's not quite fair, insomuch as the SD-UT presented a very biased, one-sided news article , which went out of its way to attempt to detail one of young Hunter's loan arrangements to a rather shady acquaintance of his father's.

IIRC, the article (although detailed) read like a spider web. I know I recognized more than one name from long ago.

[last excerpt before final snip]

You can't really thwart the law.

You can thwart a conspiratorial plot or a terrorist attack, perhaps.

You can [famously] stand athwart history, yelling "STOP," but you can't really thwart the law.

You can avoid the law legally (income tax avoidance).

You can evade the law illegally (income tax evasion).

You can be a scofflaw and ignore the law quietly, or flout [not flaunt] the law by publicly refusing to obey it.

You can't really thwart the law.

A prominent congressman said Thursday that he won’t help advance any funding requests from sanctuary cities,

It is a valiant effort but if you do not shut down the State, the State will just re-route from the Comptroller.

See, the Federal money goes there first, then is redirected to the Counties and Municipalities.

Governor Moonbeam and the cities could then just play the game of garnering up funds for the "homeless" or "single mothers" and then this money is sent to Cities to use as they see fit as long as the label fits.

That is how they waste our money, day in and day out.
