Whether it's original content or licensed content they still measure customer satisfaction. For example, Netflix decided not to renew their original series Marco Polo after two seasons, even though a lot of folks enjoyed it (including me).

Netflix has made some missteps in the past (e.g., the infamous "Quickster" debacle) but the measure of a good company is not whether it makes mistakes but what it does when those happen. If Netflix is getting a lot of negative feedback about this I'm sure they'll "get the message".
