Exclusive - Trump border 'wall' to cost $21.6 billion, take 3.5 years to build: internal report

By Julia Edwards Ainsley | WASHINGTON President Donald Trump’s “wall” along the U.S.-Mexico border would be a series of fences and walls that would cost as much as $21.6 billion, and take more than three years to construct, based on a U.S. Department of Homeland Security internal report seen by Reuters on Thursday.

The report’s estimated price-tag is much higher than a $12-billion figure cited by Trump in his campaign and estimates as high as $15 billion from Republican House Speaker Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

The report is expected to be presented to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary John Kelly in coming days, although the administration will not necessarily take actions it recommends.

The plan lays out what it would take to seal the border in three phases of construction of fences and walls covering just over 1,250 miles (2,000 km) by the end of 2020.

IF TRUE (and that's a big IF), that's a VERY reasonable price.

Should be able to recoup that in seizures from drug money going south and taxing wire transfers from illegals back home.

Don’t forget withholding foreign aid to Mexico and other Central American basket cases.

OUTSTANDING - so Reuters is saying that the Wall will be completed JUST IN TIME for the 2020 elections, and will be well on its way to completion for the 2018 election.

Hard to argue that timetable!

Donald J Trump, the master builder, brings projects in under budget and in less time than expected.

I don’t think it will cost that much, but even if it does, it’s a bargain.

Keeping our country....priceless.

Sounds like they’re setting a high bar, which I’m sure Trump will exceed. On time and under budget. Seriously walls are easy to build. The problems will be with lawsuits, and people who physically try to obstruct the project.

At this rate, Trump would be held up by a Fed Judge before the first shovel is picked up.

We have to get over this Judiciary thing or we frankly don’t even have a functioning Republic anymore.

Funny, a few weeks back, the Californians were laughing that this wall would never get built, because they’d use the courts. Well, we’re already sitting in court....

Tell the courts to F Themselves... and move on. If they don’t like it, the court military can try to stop us...

In other words, the wall will more than pay for itself, on its own. It is like the commercial about installing more efficient windows: “You are already paying for them in higher energy costs.”

Even if we had to pay for it ourselves, which we won’t, we would make it up in very short order when you consider the costs illegals impose on this country every year.

Cemex a Mexican cement company can lower the cost. Cement is cement, the strength is controlled by proper batching.

Now first off whatever figure is being told Trump will do it for less. And quicker.

Still gonna be a LOT cheaper than governor moonbeam’s bullet train fiasco. And it’ll benefit the entire nation, not just a few leftist cronies in L.A. and San Fransicko.

Besides, Zerobama gave at least that much to Iran and we heard nary a peep about that. Let Iran pay for the wall by giving back Zero’s dirty money.

I wonder how much of the cost is for the purchasing of all the private land that will be affected by the wall.
