Saudi Arabia Sending Vets To DC On 'Luxury Trips' To Oppose 9/11 Law

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is paying at least one large public relations firm in Washington, D.C. to recruit American military veterans who will agree to visit Capitol Hill to tell members of Congress — in person — that they oppose a new federal law allowing civil lawsuits against state sponsors of terrorism.

Saudi Arabia’s government also appears to be funding luxurious, all-expenses-paid trips to Washington, D.C. for the veterans which include stays at the $500-per-night Trump International Hotel.

The law is the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act (JASTA), which creates a way for American citizens to file civil claims against foreign governments for deaths and other damage related to terrorist acts if the foreign governments financed those attacks.

In November, two Republican senators, John McCain and Lindsey Graham, proposed an amendment to JASTA that would allow Americans to sue foreign governments for terrorist attacks only if the foreign nations “knowingly engage with a terrorist organization directly or indirectly, including financing.”

Even if you “win a case”, who forces them to pay up?

This is so stupid.

OTOH, I like exposing Saudi Arabia, Bush’s best buddies, to take heat and get us closer to energy independence.

I’d like to be free and clear of them and have be poor like Yemen.

The Saudis are very good at buying people to say good things about them.
They even have one here on FR.

>> “knowingly engage with a terrorist organization directly or indirectly, including financing.”

JASTA related penalties should be processed by the Fed/Military. And any necessary compensation to civilians should also be administered by the Fed/Military. Civilians suing foreign nations for terror-related events is not only an indication of negligent foreign policy, but also sets the questionable precedent for foreign citizens to sue the U.S. taxpayer.

“”HMMM.... Send me there? And I won’t do my job and just relax.””

Immediately what I thought. Go there on their dime and then trash them in your rep’s office.

That way we make them pay even more money to our country.

Charles Barkley offered to work for the klan if the money was right. Soros offered $1500 to protest. Couldn’t find his people. I could use the money.

put a hook in it that says:
If you have been compensated from The September 11th Victim Compensation Fund, any money awards must first be repaid to the fund.

Interesting - as do the Pakistanis. Their chief lobbyist posts here frequently as a “conservative”

saudi arabia is horse crap.
They finance radical islam and are NOT our friends.
They are responsible for 9-11 and our gub mint covers for them.
In my opinion we ought to nuke a couple of their cities with NO warning.

FYI: all muslims finance radical Islam - it is done through standard mosque taxes all must pay. Moderate muslims = tax payers; jihadis = soldiers.

Yes the Saudis do as you say, however, all muslims pay mosque taxes. Part of those taxes, like ours, goes to fund jihadis, as ours goes to fund our military. Same same.

Radical muslim = a Jihadi muslim who has decided to kill you

Moderate muslim = muslim who has decided not to kill you, yet.

Saudis have tons of real estate in the US subject to seizure to satisfy judgments against them - not to mention accounts at US-based banks & brokerages. The real estate is really hard to hide. ;-)
