"If the Democrats are smart, they will realize that their one and only chance of regaining power quickly is splitting the GOP into two parties, the Trumpers and the Whigs. Democrats can win three-party races with a plurality. It would therefore be to their benefit to exploit the division in the GOP, by making it untenable to be considered intelligent and support Trump.

Separation into Trumpers and Whigs is not farfetched. What is happening, however, is the obliteration of the Whig dynasty as represented by McConnell, Graham, and McCain, Ryan, among others. Their demise will create a unified party with the conviction to restore Constitutional government.
I think for them right now it’s about many in their base losing that government assistance money and the right to government sponsored abortion.

These are the perks that most democratic politicians rely on to keep their base satisfied and voting for them.
People under estimate the power of free money and other perks.
