Despite assurances otherwise, I continue to believe erring on the side of safety is the best policy here.
What we open the constitutional convention to address, WILL NOT be the only thing addressed.
Submit amendments. Let them run their course.
So far, nobody is submitting any. Evidently we don’t have the number of allies we thought we did.
Have you read Article 5? A Convention of the States requires a vote of three-fourths of the states in favor of an amendment.
Currently the Republicans control more state legislatures since any time since Reconstruction. And these are relatively conservative Republicans.
Submit amendments. Let them run their course.
The method you suggest starts with the very people in congress that are abusing the constitution. People like Nancy Pelosi that laughs at limits on government power. Do you really think that they are going to pass resolutions for amendments that will restrict the power to which they are addicted? So you think that the Democrats are ever going to let an amendment pass through congress that will limit the power of judges to legislate from the bench?
No. The Convention of the States is the only way we are going to pass Amendments that will reign in government overreach.
