Other than by the Federal government’s hands, what else helped to kill it?

Solar and wind have been up to now pushed despite their cost ineffectiveness, but the cost of solar is declining in a manner similar to computer memory. It *will* become cheaper than coal. Petroleum and natural gas, since they are portable liquids will continue to dominate the transportation sector, but there’s simply too much electrical power lost in transmission to make coal the basis of our economy.

I’m guessing it is solar panels and windmills that is killing coal. Oh - and all the new nuclear plants they are building. Oil is a thing of the past as well, never, EVER to come back!
