In case you didn't know, the Marines when doing battle with the people of peace pieces, would protect their necks to prevent decapitation, hence the nick-name Leather Necks.

The biggest focus Muslims have had on American History began with the expeditionary force of US Marines sent to the Mediterranean in two different engagements, in 1801 and 1815.

This is the only thing I know about Muslims in early USA history. Wasn't there fighting throughout 1801 to 1815, not just in those two years?
