How about the muslim slave trade in Africa and how they worked with african chieftains to help provide slaves to the new world?
Islam is responsible for the institution of slavery everywhere - it is arguable that had Islam never existed, slavery would never have appeared in western civilization. And the world would be a very different place that today, with most of the world’s lost literature still existent, as well as classical Christianity.
Another seldom mentioned fact about Islam and muslims: blacks are considered slaves by Arab muslims, even if the blacks are muslims.
By slavery I do not mean the form once found in Greece and Rome; there, slavery was more like indentured servitude with slaves having full citizen rights.
Not to mention the first chapters in the history of the United States Marines and a few lines in the Marine Corps Hymn- “...from the halls of Montezuma, to the shores of Tripoli...”

There might have been one soldier who was a freed slave. His name might have been derived from Arabic. Or, might not. Another had a last name of Muhamad and appears to have been Turkish. As for evidence that any of Washington's soldiers were practicing Muslims -- there appears to be none.

Some of the recent studies imply that a large number of the slaves in America were muslim, as a result of the normal muslim conquests in the rest of the world.
