Larry O’Connor’s suggestion was so brilliant that . . . Rachel Maddow is almost sure to ignore it.
On today’s Morning Joe, Weekly Standard editor and radio talk show host O’Connor suggested that Rachel Maddow, accompanied by Dem senator Cory Booker, should escort onto campus Milo Yiannopoulos and other conservative speakers who have been confronted with violence.
Maddow should make the point, suggested O’Connor, that violence is “not what we do in America.” O’Connor argued that by their silence, Dems are being hurt by the protests because Americans are seeing opposition to Trump as “violent thugs.”

If liberals were smart they would not be liberals.

But Maddow could raise her street cred by escorting him in and then cold-cocking him from behind on stage, or just abandoning him. Milo would have to be very brave... or very foolish... to accept.
Not just st the leftist press, but leftist political leaders should take a stand for free speech.
Schumer, Pelosi, Cumming, Castro, Moonbeam and others need to escort Milo onto UC Berkeley for his speech to the Campus student Republican Club.

You’re surely right that a good portion of the Dem base approves of this kind of thing.
But I can’t believe that, say, Chuck Schumer is happy when he turns on the TV and sees more anti-conservative rioting on campus.
Whatever his personal views, he’s enough of a pragmatist to realize that it will hurt Dems at the ballot box.
You're giving Schmucky way too much credit for having a functioning heart and brain. He is an ideologue. I remember him when he was just a Congresscritter form NYC..................
It wasn't on purpose, this time. But, it could have been!
Schumer isn’t happy being Minority leader. He desperately wants to be Majority leader.
And however much of an ideologue he may be, he knows that this kind of rioting hurts his chances of achieving that.
I can’t prove it, but as a former New Yorker who has seen Schumer in action for many years, it’s what I believe.
I wouldn’t say it could never happen but at their heart leftists are totalitarians and give no quarter to what they see as the enemy. In the hierarchy of what they value ideology is at the top. All the other items of identity politics evaporate if you do not toe the party line. Milo is now considered the worst of the worst (ie a traitor to their revolution).
His antics on TV over the weekend doesn’t help his chances any..................
Even better. Have Obama go. For 8 years we had to listen to that jerk say “that’s not who we are.”
