As I have pointed out before, when my British husband emigrated with me to the USA in the early 80’s, I had to vouch for him, that he wouldn’t be a burden to the American people. And he has been working since he arrived. Why was that system ever stopped?

Right you are. Sponsors. Who had to also prove they were able to independently financially support (house/feed/clothe) the immigrating family member/sponsoree while the immigrating person found gainful employment.

because the Dem’s, probably a long time ago, knew that at some point the taxpayers would get sick of their crap and reject them and their policies. So, they had to import voters to stay in the mix.
