WASHINGTON (AP) — Starbucks says it will hire 10,000 refugees over the next five years, a response to President Donald Trump's indefinite suspension of Syrian refugees and temporary travel bans that apply to six other Muslim-majority nations.

Howard Schultz, the coffee retailer's chairman and CEO, said in a letter to employees Sunday that the hiring would apply to stores worldwide and the effort would start in the United States where the focus would be on hiring immigrants "who have served with U.S. troops as interpreters and support personnel."

Howard Schultz is putting your coffee money where his mouth is. Or, "would you like me to pee in your coffee, infidel?"

This 10,000 hires is supposedly to be spread over the 75 countries SB operates in. But, I wonder what percentage of liberal arts American Baristas will be replaced with this preferential diversity hiring?

5 bucks for a lousy cup of coffee and to support 10K refugees is enough to stay away.

LOL, Starbucks is competing for your caffeine and diversity dollars at the same time.

Yup. If I want a coffee that bad, I’ll go to Caribou. The coffee is better, and served without political commentary.

Howard better hire a few more lawyers to handle the increased lawsuits from “new” employees who sue them for not letting them practice their religion five times a day...

So much for Starbucks. Once you look around you find far better coffee just about everywhere.

I don’t want a Muslim handling my food anywhere and have moved buying locations before now.

I WAS an occasional Starbucks customer. Now I will never darken their door again.

No equal protection for you, haha.

Discrimination is bad, except when the government and the press say it’s good.

Get the same type coffee for $2 at McD’s. Better Tasting.

We just got a new Buffalo Wings, has a very BIG NO GUNS ALLOWED SIGN, another place to BOYCOTT.

I hate that companies and corporations are taking political sides, on either side. These mostly tax-exempt corporations/PACs should HAVE to be neutral on political matters. Having said that, I won’t be picking up a bag of starbucks. I don’t ever visit a Starbucks location, but on occasion I would pick up a bag of their brew in the grocery store (Dunkin Dark is the best, even though I mostly can’t find it and limit myself to what is on sale). I’m seriously finding my purchasing options limited these days, as more and more of these idiots pander to the crowds.

I was once a frequent Starbucks guy, GOING ALMOST DAILY. I stopped about 10 years ago, going only those few times where it’s convenient, like downtown Chicago, and you want a quick black coffee on the run.

I figure I’ve saved easily, I mean easily $300 per year since that time on the average, which has more than paid for my Breville Keurig and Nespresso coffee makers and the coffee for it, also my Techivorn Moccamaster and Chemix Otto Coffee makers, and my Professional Kitchen Aid Burr coffee bean grinders, Behmor bean roaster and all the green coffee beans I’ll need for the next five years.

BUT THE BEST THING, I DON’T HAVE TO DRINK THEIR CRAPPY COFFEE AND I FEEL GOOD TOO, THAT I’M NOT SUPPORTING THE POS WHO OWNS THE BUSINESS.
