Links to President Donald Trump are shaping up to be a liability for Silicon Valley's golden boys. Case in point: Uber.
The hashtag #DeleteUber has been spreading on social media amid protests against Trump's Muslim travel ban. The ride hailing service was accused of "strike breaking" in New York Saturday, while others condemned remarks made by Uber CEO Travis Kalanick indicating he would work with the president.
In a statement, Kalanick said the "ban will impact many innocent people." He added that the company would compensate drivers stranded outside the country for the next three months.
Hundreds travelled to New York's John F. Kennedy airport Saturday to demonstrate against Trump's executive order, which prohibits citizens of seven majority Muslim countries from entering the U.S. for 90 days.
In response to the ban, the NY Taxi Workers Alliance called for an hour work stoppage at the airport in protest. After Uber tweeted that surge pricing had been turned off at the airport, the company was quickly condemned by some as a "strike breaker."
Longtime Trump ally and adviser Roger Stone praised Uber in a tweet.
Meanwhile, other Twitter and Facebook users began to share screenshots of themselves deleting their Uber accounts, including the message they were sending to the company.
"Uber has actively chosen to support racism, xenophobia, and bigotry," @katebergie wrote.
"Uber CEOs are collaborators with Trump and therefore support fascism," @flwrwrk wrote.
‘Rats are all about Uber Alles...
one more time, declaring a controversy because of a ripple in the twitterverse is retarded.
And what happened to golden-shower-gate? And Russia giving Trump the election? And Gloria Allred and her Bimbo of Trump Death?
And Tom Arnold's Trump Tape. I was looking forward to that one.
President Trump needs to come out as being for men pissing in ladies rooms and school kids showering together. The liberal heads would explode and that would put that fiasco to bed when the “Vagina Walkers” from last Saturday can’t find a bathroom to use. LOL
I guess that they are sad that their muzzie dates won't be here to "pick" them up...
Guess I’ll have to take an Uber ride this week. I already have the app.
Uber if you’re listening I will be using your services this Thursday and Friday in Chitcago. Flux the PC censors.
These people seriously do not understand that THEY are the Fascists, the brownshirts, the frickin NAZI’s. BELIEVE LIKE US OR BE DESTROYED..... I will never use Lyft, and until Uber bows its head and kisses the bootie of the Neocomms, they are my choice. Do the Progs know how closely they are treading on the line between getting the majority pissed off and just enough to bust heads????
NEVER LYFT....
About 3 years ago in Boston I took a cab with my luggage in the back. At the destination I paid the middle eastern cabbie from the back seat. Then I get out and he starts to drive away. I take a few steps and slam on the trunk a few times for him to stop and give me my luggage. He gets out of the cab and starts yelling at me like it was my fault he didnt take out my luggage from his trunk until he finally did. What a piece of imported Arabic work. Give me a sane Uber driver any day of the week.
And Lyft IS on strike? I think not, they are just trying to grow their market share with this and the immigration hashtag viral marketing scams....
Whatever they do it won’t be anything compared to the damage these savage animals would do to us.
I can’t afford it myself. We have $3 regular taxi rides here in the evening and when I check Uber I see $15-$20.
Every day a new fake news headline, but it doesn’t matter.
Saul Alinsky didn’t say you had to be truthful, just attack your target relentlessly.
The golden shower talking point is out there, true or not.
And when it was suggested that the guy who punched the neo-nazi was himself a “human toilet” who like excrement play, they said “so what, it’s his personal life”.
Stalinists lie. Always
Yeah I just got an unsolicited virtue-signaling email from Lyft about how they are pledging something like $250K to the ACLU to stop Trump.
OK. Buh-bye.
I signed up for Lyft, but never went through with actually driving for them. I just got a text from them stating they are giving $1m to the ACLU. Needless to say, I will never drive for them. I do drive for Uber on the weekends. I can get $250-$300 a weekend driving and the money goes into a bank account designated solely for gun purchases. :)
As an added side-note. I just stopped by the Lyft section over at Uber Drivers Forum. Wow! they are upset as Lyft has recently cut their rates, drastically in some cities impacting their drivers in a big way. Now they hand $1m to the ACLU... not going over well.
The Democrat Thug Party
Uner drivers breathe a collective sigh of relief. No more smelly patchouli hippies in their cars making self righteous demands.
