Lyft donates $1M to the ACLU, condemns Trump’s immigration actions
TechCrunch ^ | January 29, 2017 | Darrell Etherington

This weekend, Trump closed the country’s borders to refugees, immigrants, and even documented residents from around the world based on their country of origin. Banning people of a particular faith or creed, race or identity, sexuality or ethnicity, from entering the U.S. is antithetical to both Lyft’s and our nation’s core values. We stand firmly against these actions, and will not be silent on issues that threaten the values of our community. We know this directly impacts many of our community members, their families and friends. We stand with you, and are donating $1,000,000 over the next four years to the ACLU to defend our constitution.

They haven’t read the Constitution? Or maybe they are from some other country themselves.

Could you explain what Lyft is?

I’d check myself but I’m afraid me ‘puter might become contaminated.

Why can’t businesses just stay out of politics?

Big mistake, nothing like alienating a big segment of your customer base.

You asked: Can I explain what Lyft is?

http://nextjuggernaut.com/blog/how-lyft-works-business-model-insights-lyft-revenue/

Excerpt: Lyft is an on-demand transportation service platform that lets people hire a cab with the help of a tap on their smartphone. The business model of Lyft is something similar to that of Uber and that’s why Lyft is often termed as an alternative to Uber. Being valued at $5.5 Billion and having a presence in 200 cities of the USA, Lyft is giving a tough competition to Uber and aims to make it BIG in the on-demand taxi industry.”

Ah. So THAT'S why we only hear stories of Uber drivers misbehaving and not Lyft drivers.

They bought immunity.

Lyft is a ride share company. Cheaper than a taxi. IIRC, people who drive for them have passed a check and usually are doing it for part time income.

Deleted a lot of apps today. I’ll do fine with Uber they are better anyway, Netflix is gone forever. I noticed after the idiot at Grubhub got political they were quickly replaced by better food apps

I’m so sick of making idiots rich only to have them turn on us.

Dear stupid lyft,

“...people of a particular faith or creed, race or identity, sexuality or ethnicity...” are exactly the people who are being protected by the EO banning those from the list of terrorist nations prepared by obama.

Good to know. Why can’t companies just shut up and do the job they’re supposed to do?

For example, my dentist just does dental work on me. He doesn’t lecture me about politics. Odd how so many companies (and so many Hollywood celebrities) behave otherwise.
