After a pompous, liberal agenda was crammed down the throats of the American people during his first two years in office, President Obama suffered staggering losses in Congress for the next six years that cost Democrats control of both houses. But, heavy Democrat losses, courtesy of an electorate that vehemently rejected a far-left agenda, didn't stop Obama from continuing to push through countless new rules and regulations from the White House all while pushing his authority to the brink of every Constitutional boundary known to man.
Of course, the problem with "legislating from the White House" is that all those rules and regulations can be undone by the next administration. And, as Kimberley Strassel points out in a Wall Street Journal Opinion piece today, a little know tool within the Congressional Review Act could allow Republicans to wipe out 8 full years of Obama's liberal agenda, with a simple majority vote, all while preventing similar rules from every being recreated by future administrations.
Todd Gaziano on Wednesday stepped into a meeting of free-market attorneys, think tankers and Republican congressional staff to unveil a big idea. By the time he stepped out, he had reset Washingtons regulatory battle lines.
These days Mr. Gaziano is a senior fellow in constitutional law at the Pacific Legal Foundation. But in 1996 he was counsel to then-Republican Rep. David McIntosh. He was intimately involved in drafting and passing a bill Mr. McIntosh sponsored: the Congressional Review Act. No one knows the law better.
Everyone right now is talking about the CRA, which gives Congress the ability, with simple majorities, to overrule regulations from the executive branch. Republicans are eager to use the law, and House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy this week unveiled the first five Obama rules that his chamber intends to nix.

I find it odd that now that Trump is already doing this, the Republicans discovered this amazing power.
It’s pretty clear to me they knew about it the whole time but were scared to death of opposing Obama.
Now they can jump on the bandwagon while subtly threatening Trump so they look powerful.
Weak weak weak
Barky isn’t about to cut short his vaGay-cay.
There. Fixed. ;)
Speaking of Barky; were is he. Is he over in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, or Iran getting his new marching orders or sumtin’.
Just wait ‘till Hussein gets back to DC. He won’t recognize the place.
= = =
Isn’t he having a brick wall built around his DC house?
Declare some germ as endangered. Put his house off limits.
Brick up the entry gateway. Put some razor wire on top of the wall.
Give him a one time helo ride inside, if he wants.
“Cash me outside! How about that!”
Yes they were weak. They needed a strong leader that could dismantle the effectiveness of the liberal press. Now they have one, and they are beginning to lose their fear. Amazing to watch.

So basically they are openly admitting that they didn’t do their job for the last eight years>
Even though they had a rule on the books that permitted them to reject Obama executive orders.
And even though they had a republican majority that would have given them the political power to do it.
Now Donald Trump, the president who many of them opposed, has given them the backbone to stand up and do their jiob - even though they let Obama pussy whip them for 8 years.
“... they didnt do their job for the last eight years ...”

Republicans have held both the house and senate since way back in 2015.
Prior to that was in 2007.
BO’B must have cut class on the day THIS was taught in US CONSTITUTIONAL LAW. Being a “professor’ of law, students in his class should sue for not getting their monies worth.
ATF, HUD, HHS, IRS, DOE, DOJ, DOT, EPA, BLM, NPS, FDA, Labor Department, and Department of Education. What if regulations dating back to 1996 could be thrown out?
Anyone care to bet on whether the GOP has the stones to actually do this? The problem is they'll probably do it to Trump.
This is really the first time since 2003 to 2006 that the Republicans have been able to take advantage of CRA. For one, I am glad they allowed it to be forgotten until now. This will feel like a red hot poker with spikes to the liberals and their chattering class backsides. Thanks Newt and the class of ‘94.
The Republican staff/think tanks should also go back to the 1996 to 2000 time frame to see if there are any regulations for which the Clinton administration forgot to send Congress the required report. They could then wipe them out too. That would really make liberal heads explode!!!
These have to be signed by the President. That is why it would not work until we got the dems out of the
White House.
I’m trying hard to keep from laugh out loud, but I can’t help myself.
Congress better go back to school, learn the constitution,American history and the law
He's essentially a lazy sucker. I'm hoping he gets real fond of not having to pretend he's doing work. I'm hoping the fuss surrounding continual attacks on Trump will look too much like work. Golfing is a lot less confrontational.
