Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Friday all but ruled out the possibility of a change to the filibuster rule this year.
McConnell made his comment in an interview with The Hill one day after President Trump said he wants Senate Republicans to strip Democrats of the power to filibuster Supreme Court nominees if they attempt to block his pick.
“Senate rules are a matter for the Senate and a lot of other people have opinions,” McConnell said.
“We’ve already adopted the rules for this Congress at the beginning of the year. Basically we didn’t adopt any because in the Senate rules are permanent, unlike the House which every two year adopts a new set of rules. We don’t.”

There is no reason to continue with the charade that either McConnell or the GOPe senators who repeatedly make him their leader are on our side.
I think its time this bastard was yanked out of office.
The same people who put Trump in the White House, can and will remove this clown. He needs to be impeached - NOW.
If McConnell stick to this position, we will not get a conservative SC nominee through during the next four years. McConnell is a dean of the old uniparty club and it shows in the slow pace of Cabinet nominee votes.
Ol' Harry didn't agree with that statement... Senate rules seemed pretty flexible when he was in charge.
He is already trying to undermine the President by sharing power unnecessarily with the Democrat Obstructionists. When Harry Reid was in charge of the Senate, he tossed out the filibuster rule immediately.
Making our side conform to it when the other side didn't is at best stupid, and at worse traitorous. McConnell needs to go.

Those are the rules the current Senate is observing. Nothing has changed.
Give it time. Let the Senate receive some public pressure. Last I read, sometime in December, that if the vote came to the floor of the Senate, there were 8 republicans that would vote to not change the filibuster. It is more than just McConnell.

Time to start ordering plastic Truck Nutz from Amazon and having them delivered to McConnell’s Office with a note telling him to “Strap’em on Mitch”.
Well what was that cabinet position for his wife worth? If he screws up a SC nominee, then get rid of her in the cabinet.
This guarantees 100% that the democrats will close ranks and block whoever Trump picks. Any attempt to shame them on delaying the nomination will be met with the reply of how long the Republicans blocked Garland’s nomination. The democrats would end this stupid rule the minute they get a majority in the Senate.
Just do it and be done with it.
Another way to look at it is that the new sheriff has a hostage. Let's stay tuned.
