The cumulative merchandise trade deficit that the United States has run with Mexico in the 23 years since the North American Free Trade Agreement took effect is nearing $1,000,000,000,000, according to data published by the U.S. Census Bureau.
In the period from January 1994 through November 2016, according to Census Bureau numbers, the United States ran a cumulative merchandise trade deficit with Mexico of $986,532,000,000.
The United States now sends more money to Mexico each year through our bilateral merchandise trade deficit than we spend on our own homeland security through the federal Department of Homeland Security.

Mexico is a US welfare state.
America is being economically gang raped by Mexico and has been for decades.
“America is being economically gang raped by Mexico and has been for decades”
Thanks to BJ Clinton, let’s not forget.
I’m feeling vindicated for voting for Ross Perot.
#41 pushed NAFTA to the goal line and BJ carried it over.
I see Mexico building a wall.
We all saw them building a wall on their border with Guatemala. They didn’t have liberal popes chewing them out over it either.
So they made stuff and we bought it.
And how much has the open border caused us drug-related crime, lives lost and ruined because of drugs from Mexico.
NAFTA was designed as a wealth transfer from America to Canada and Mexico. We have been running huge trade deficits with both nations since NAFTA was shoved down our throats. The Globalists wanted to enrich America’s neighbors. It worked. In spades.
People should have listened to Perot. Thank God Trump is going to stop this monster.
You would expect the larger, more economically developed country to buy more from a smaller, less prosperous country than vice versa.
Why is this news?
Which is which?
And why use the UN’s terminology?
Another program which is supposed to modernize our southern neighbors and make them great consumers but ends up keeping them in the corruption sht even more while making us poorer.
The drug and comnsumer trade always rely on a producer and consumer country. The dealers do not want to change this status quo or their sales and profits would plummet.
I heard an inspiring speech against NAFTA by Ralph Nader on KALX radio in Berkeley around 1994. Nader was on fire: anti-Clinton big time, anti-NAFTA big time. Amazing speech in Pittsburgh to steel workers: “...An expanded market, cheaper labor and less restrictive health and safety standards.”
Excessive regulations caused US companies to move south.
Good news. President Trump told federal agencies to not issue any more regulations.

With such a trade surplus, Mexico would be foolish NOT to pay for the wall.
