An investigation has been opened after an African refugee was left to drown in Venice’s Grand Canal as tourists on nearby boats filmed him on their phones, with some apparently laughing and making racist jokes.
Video footage released on several Italian news sites shows the 22-year-old Gambian, later identified as Pateh Sabally, flailing in the icy waters of the city’s canal.

What else should the spectator do? Jumping in the "save" someone who doesn't want to be saved (as the article concedes) is suicidal. If a "refugee" wants to die should "white guilt" require us to die with him?

Despite all their holier-than-thou crap that gets published here in the US, I’ve noted that many if not most Europeans actually are quite racist. They’re just oblivious to it, in the manner that people in left-leaning all white places often are, for instance, Minnesota or Vermont.
That said, viewing the video does put the lie to the claim that they just laughed and made videos as the man drowned.

The man made no attempt to save himself. He didn’t act like a drowning man.

Folks living in parts of the world where they’ve seen their nations turned into 3rd world outhouses are getting fed up with “refugees”. Doesn’t matter where they come from.
The sort of racism I’m talking about comes from people who are very smugly self-assured that they themselves cannot possibly be racist. But, they are. It’s a problem in all leftist lily-white enclaves, from Minnesota to Europe. The sort who would never be exposed to the downside of third world refugees and support it.

He didn’t drown...he died of toxic shock syndrome.
When you jump in to save a drowning person, their last act will be to drown YOU. Throwing him life preservers was the right thing to do. You don’t help anybody by jumping in and becoming a victim yourself.
