President Trump has a beef with NATO. He's called the alliance "obsolete" and accused other members of not spending their fair share. "We are spending a tremendous amount in NATO and other people proportionately less," he said during the campaign. "No good." When it comes to costs, Trump has a point. Only five of NATO's 28 members -- the U.S., Greece, Poland, Estonia and the U.K. -- meet the alliance's target of spending at least 2% of GDP on defense.

It's interesting to note that the second biggest NATO spender in proportional terms is Greece.

Germany is far down on the list. I guess they need their money for other things, like for crazy social experiments.

Trump says NATO is obsolete but still ‘very important to me’

LONDON (Reuters) - U.S. President-elect Donald Trump said NATO was obsolete because it had not defended against terror attacks, but that the military alliance was still very important to him, The Times of London reported.

“I took such heat, when I said NATO was obsolete,” Trump told the newspaper in an interview. “It’s obsolete because it wasn’t taking care of terror. I took a lot of heat for two days. And then they started saying Trump is right.”

Trump added that many NATO members were not paying their fair share for U.S. protection.

“A lot of these countries aren’t paying what they’re supposed to be paying, which I think is very unfair to the United States,” Trump said. “With that being said, NATO is very important to me. There’s five countries that are paying what they’re supposed to. Five. It’s not much.”

Donald Trump slammed President Obama Thursday on TODAY for failing to take a stronger line against President Vladimir Putin in dealing with Ukraine, saying he feared Obama would now make up for lost time with imprudent moves to "show his manhood."

The real estate mogul and reality-TV star, who has criticized Putin for sending military troops into Crimea, said Obama must now take fierce steps to prevent the situation from escalating further.

Noted idiot Dana Perino, commenting on how "chilling" Trump's words were to the NATO Alliance remarked the other night that, "When you look at it in terms of GDP expenditure, some of the NATO countries are critical of us."

I actually laughed out loud. To think that this vacuous bimbo was once the spokesperson for a Republican President is a genuine disgrace.

The landing-on-the-fainting-couch-vapors about Trump calling out NATO is equally preposterous: EVERY US President in my lifetime except Eisenhower and Kennedy -- including Barack 0bama -- has tried to pressure most of the other NATO counties into fulfilling their 2% obligation.

Why is their refusal to honor a treaty they've signed more outrageous than our demand that we'll need to reconsider the treaty if nobody is willing to honor it?
