In a little-noticed action on Inauguration Day, the Oregon State University board of trustees voted overwhelmingly to sell most of OSUs $8.8 million in fossil fuel stocks.
The action capped a four-year campaign by faculty and students under the banner of OSU Divest to rid the campus of its stake in carbon-emissions-heavy energy such as oil, gas and coal.
I was thrilled. Its been four years, said OSU education professor Ken Winograd, who added that it was a coincidence that the divestment vote came on the day that President Trump, a climate skeptic, took office.

Perhaps I do not know what an endowment is? So they have stuff that they draw interest on and use that to fund things???
I LOOOOVE it! Sort of like dumping Apple stock right when Steve Jobs returned for his second round of leadership which resulted in the iPhone! I love it when liberals have to pay the price and receive the direct consequences of the big liberal stands! Let them stand up for what ever they want. But also do not fund them. Let them fund their own political and immoral stands.
Look for actions that INCREASE COMPETITION between higher education institutions. It is time these liberal scumbags had to clean up their monopolistic acts.
Smart move - the energy industry is about to become very volatile and prices will head on a downward curve.
>...the logic used by these lefties is mind-boggling.
Well, I see your problem right away: Conflating the FEELINGS of Socialists as ‘thinking’ or ‘logical’ (let alone as “Liberal”) Whew! talk about a stretch.
There are some ideas so absurd that only an intellectual could believe them.

I think they should also quit driving their cars to work.
And other investors shall buy the stocks that Oregon State sells.
They need to sell before the stocks rise!!!
RIGHT!
Like other libtards they really haven't thought their position through very well.
Anyone can talk the talk - let's see them walk their talk!
They should clear their existence of:
I can identify with this poor woman because when I was a child my Christian parents wouldn’t let me eat all the candy that I wanted except on Halloween, Christmas and Easter. The rest of the time I was only allowed to eat as much candy as my meager allowance and money I made doing odd jobs could get me from the corner store. It all seemed very unfair at the time, so as an adult I rebelled and have eaten massive quantities of candy and other delicious foods. Any health problems related to this I rightfully blame on my parents because of the unfair treatment I received as a child. /S
Oops wrong thread sorry!
I believe OSU placed a tsunami research center in one of the worst areas on the coast for tsunamis.
I just spoke to a representative for the trustees and asked if any of them have given up driving their fossil fuel automobiles for alternative transportation such as natural gas buses. A secretary is supposed to call me back. BWAHAHAHAHA!
Wow. Folks should be sure to read the whole article to see which fund is divesting and which isn’t. And the amount is pretty small. Seems to me this may be a PR stunt.
They’ll need the $$$ if/when they decide to go all sanctuary city and get their federal funds yanked.
