Texas Gov. Greg Abbott is escalating a standoff with Austin's sheriff over so-called "sanctuary cities" policies and now says he will seek new laws to remove her from office.
Abbott said Wednesday on "Fox and Friends" that Travis County Sheriff Sally Hernandez will lose her job unless she reverses plans to stop honoring all federal immigration detainers in her jail starting in February. The governor has already said he will immediately withhold state grant dollars.
Abbott doesn't have the power to remove local officials. But Texas Republicans have filed multiple bills that would punish local governments for not arresting or detaining immigrants living in the country illegally.
President Donald Trump is also expected to target "sanctuary cities" under executive actions on immigration that he plans to roll out starting Wednesday.

Any official that shields illegal aliens from our laws needs to not just be fired, but charged criminally with harboring illegal aliens, a felony.

Travis County isn’t just central/downtown Austin, it’s North and West where the conservatives live. When her officers see their O/T pay disappear, they’ll take her out themselves.
Travis County people truly believe in all things left-wing. It must be more than just the state employees who think like this.
I think she first has to refuse remanding a detainee to ICE before dereliction of duty impeachment charges can be leveled.
Abbott was our Attorney General before becoming our guv. He knows what he's talking about. He knows what he's doing!

Why can't they be charged under RICO?
Coprrect! Enforce the law! Unfortunately, My FRiend, we have learned from experience that the law[s] are enforced on certain individuals. And certain individuals are exempt from having the law enforced upon them as they violate said laws with impunity. Hopefully this will change but I am not holding my breath.

When I was still working, used to go to Austin to visit Silicon Valley companies that had facilities there. Silicon Valley is a rats nest of RATs, so Travis County is probably being “assisted” by the transplants. Although since Austin is the state capitol, it is probably a “RAT’s nest” without any outside “assistance.”
The first TX city to run off the illegals to other TX cities wins. Please Lord let it be us.
I think that would be a more complicated prosecution.
No need to prove a conspiracy with a simple harboring charge.
A couple of them go to jail and the rest will straighten up.
