All 50 state secretaries of state are urging the Trump administration to rescind a last-minute Department of Homeland Security directive calling state election systems “critical infrastructure.”
Many state officials fear this is the first step toward a federal takeover of state-run elections, The Daily Caller News Foundation has learned.
While deep political discord may be found on other issues, state secretaries — who oversee all election machinery — appear completely united against the former administration’s attempt to insert the federal government into state-run elections.
Then-Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson surprised and outraged state election officials with his Jan. 6 action, just two weeks before President-elect Donald Trump was to assume the presidency.
Johnson tried to portray his move as part of the Obama administration’s effort against Russian government hacking of Democratic Party emails during the presidential campaign.
But state officials retort that election machines and the infrastructure are not connected to the Internet and therefore are immune to cybersecurity attacks.
Incoming DHS Secretary John Kelly indicated in written testimony prior to his confirmation he was troubled by Johnson’s directive.
“The notion that DHS can or should exercise some degree of influence over state voting systems is highly controversial and appears to be a political question beyond the scope of DHS’ current legislative cyber mandates,” Kelly wrote.
The National Association of Secretaries of State, which represent secretaries in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and American Samoa, is planning to take up the DHS action at its next full meeting. It is scheduled to be held in Washington, D.C., in mid-February.
Association president Denise Merrill, who also serves as the secretary of state for Connecticut, told TheDCNF in an interview, “I’m certain this will be a hot topic among all of us.”

Audit the vote from California to see how many illegals votes.
Tell all the states the feds would love to undo Obama and keep this a state issue IF they agree to an audit to determine if foreign nationals voted in federal elections.

There might be good or bad from this. Does it serve President Trump and Republicans? Maybe enable some cleanup of voting in urban areas and by illegals, multiple voting by people in multiple states, dead voters, etc.

I say, Go ahead and Grant their wish with only one caveat:
Ant State where Voter Fraud has been Demonstrated beyond a reasonable doubt, the Secretary of State shall be held CRIMINALLY LIABLE!!
After all the Secretary of State of EACH STATE did CERTIFY under Penalty of Perjury the vote is accurate and correct.

Understandable of the Dems, considering that it would be Trump’s DHS handling things now. Otherwise, I’m sure they’d be perfectly fine with it.
Audit the vote. It makes no difference how it affects President Trump, it is a matter of the Law and right vs. wrong. The outcome will not hurt President Trump (I love saying/writing that) from a vote standpoint but it will surely make the communist left scream.
And I would like to bring back a discussion of the Obama Admin immediately moving the census under the control of the executive branch. I figured then it was so they could manipulate the numbers to give blue states a boost to get more Dems into the House of Representatives. Changing the allocated numbers to benefit the Left. Overcounting in blue states, etc. Is anyone aware if this is still under the control of the WH? The 2020 census will determine the redistribution of seats again. Better figure it out before then.

Run with this to show “bipartisan” concern on the legitimacy of elections. Do the federal audit, identify the rat illegalities, fix it, rescind the order and give a clean system back to the states.
If the rats and their stooges have a problem with this tell them to take it up with Jeh and Barry.
I do believe a simple Federal mandate would take care of all of this: a requirement for voters to present a valid government issued photo ID that indicates federal voter eligibility, and a requirement that the states can only give an eligibility endorsement if the intended voter has presented proof of citizenship. I present my driver’s licence at every election in Canada. Anyone who is to secure an ID shouldn’t be voting. My son obtained a government photo ID free of charge when he was 16.

Yes, Audit the Vote. That is great phrase and goal. Who can seriously argue against doing that? Well, okay, maybe those that lose out by corruption, illegal votes, etc.

Couldn’t this also be used to push for voter ID in all states. It’s amazing how Wisconsin turned RED once ID was required to vote.
If you are expecting 100 percent lack of fraud in all 50 states in an election, you’re going to have a lot of SOS folk in prison.
How about a realistic number or approach.
You want to be the one that certifies that 6 million people in a state ALL voted honestly and face prison if one didn’t.
Perhaps Obama always expected it to be rescinded.
But Leftists love to float these nanny-state, crypto-fascist trial balloons to gauge the response.
Which leads me to believe this idea of controlling State elections will be back with the next socialist/leftist/fascist candidate they put up.
