The F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, told his top agents from around the country that he had been asked by President Trump to stay on the job running the federal governments top law enforcement agency, The New York Times reports, according to people familiar with the matter.
The political fallout from this decision will make the news cycle buzz today, since Hillary Clinton, the mainstream media, and many Democrats blame Mr. Comey for her defeat, and it is not clear whether she would have kept him on had she won.
But a decision to retain Mr. Comey would spare the president another potentially bruising confirmation battle. As The New York Times adds, it also would keep Mr. Comey at the center of the F.B.I.s investigation into several Trump associates and their potential ties with the Russian government.
Retaining Mr. Comey could also help calm the bureaus work force, which has been rattled after a tumultuous few months in which the F.B.I. and the director himself were sharply criticized for moves that many felt influenced the outcome of the presidential election.

Works for me.
Tyler is sourcing the Slimes. There must be better sources.
Know when to fight and when to re-group...Trump has a busy 100 days and has his cabinet and others that need congressional approval let this dude soak a while and get ripe for pickin’ later!
Comey is a snake in the swamp.
So far, Trump has been doing fine. But THIS decision is really bad. Comey has proven himself to be another corruptocrat.

Tyler is a busy guy.
Leftist MSM and Hillary Democrats are all over this, with headlines, alleging this is proof that Comey and Trump conspired to defeat Hillary Clinton.
That will be the main story on all of the media today, with the intent to further try to de-legitimize the Trump election.
Although the opinion of some Democrats prior was that Trump should not fire Comey.
Dem rep: Trump replacement for Comey would be worse
By Nikita Vladimirov - 01/13/17
It would be better for current FBI Director James Comey to keep his job than have him replaced by President-elect Donald Trump, says one Democratic lawmaker.
Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-Texas), a member of the House Intelligence Committee, said he wouldn’t call on Comey to resign over his actions in the election for fear of the alternative. He also said he still had trust in Comey’s judgment.
“The confidence of many members of Congress was quite low ... I was asked the question ‘should FBI director Comey be called on to resign?’ And I would say the answer to that is no,” Castro said in an interview with MSNBC.
“I still trust his judgement and his independence from the incoming president and the incoming administration more than I would trust anybody who Donald Trump appoints to take that job right now,” he said.
“It would still be better to keep him in place as somebody who is independent and didn’t come in from Donald Trump,” Castro added.
Don’t you mean Tyler is a busy bunch of guys?
Smoke'em if you got'em.
I wouldn't think an announcement of this type would be made until Jeff Sessions is approved as AG.
No way!
An earlier thread with some 65 comments if anyone would care to scan thru them.

I’m sure the leash will be very, very short.
New broom sweeps clean, Donald.
Find someone else.
The Beast isn’t going to like this bit of news.
I’d like to know all the inside scoop that Comey gave to Trump.
Agree.
I like this because:
A. It drives the left inputs
B. No disruption to investigation of the Clinton’s
C. Best way for AG Sessions to see just what this guy has done, and is doing.
NUTS not inputs!
