AFL-CIO president Richard Trumka praised GOP President Donald Trumps decision to withdraw from the Trans Pacific Partnership once and for all on Monday with an executive order officially killing the Pacific Rim trade deal.
Trumka also praised the decision by President Trump to reopen negotiations on the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) deal from the 1990s, a deal that saw millions of U.S. jobs leave the country for Mexico and Canadaand the labor union leader praised President Trumps harsh words for Big Pharma, the pharmaceutical industry, when Trump said of that industry that theyre politically protected, but not anymore in an interview with the Washington Post.
Trumka said in his Monday statement:
"Last year, a powerful coalition of labor, environmental, consumer, public health and allied groups came together to stop the TPP. Todays announcement that the US is withdrawing from TPP and seeking a reopening of NAFTA is an important first step toward a trade policy that works for working people. While these are necessary actions, they arent enough. They are just the first in a series of necessary policy changes required to build a fair and just global economy. We will continue our relentless campaign to create new trade and economic rules that end special privileges for foreign investors and Big Pharma, protect our planets precious natural resources and ensure fair pay, safe conditions and a voice in the workplace for all workers. . .

But.....he’s praising the “Literally Hitlerz”!!!!!
Shows that this imbecile was out of touch with his union when he endorsed Hillary over Trump.
AFL-CYA
I had to read that headline a couple of times.....praises Trump. LOL.
Trump actually delivered something that the AFL-CIO told its members for thirty years could only be delivered by Democrats.
The dems have abandoned labor and the labor unions. They know where their bread is buttered. I predict that Trump is going to win a 49 state landslide next election. He’ll have union money behind him. He’ll draw off 50% of the black vote, 70% of the white vote and 70% of the rest of the minorities.
Welcome to the party, Pal.
Trumpka is going to have a helluva a time being both for and against Trump’s policies on any given day.
ROTFL!
NICE ONE
nailed that like a split hog
Just saw the group when the came out of the Oval Office and spoke to the press. They were very pleased with the meeting with Trump and were very happy that someone finally is listening to them
Um. IDK, but I feel uncomfortable agreeing with Trumka. What in the world is happening? LOL
“What’s he gonna do, waive a Maigic Wand?” - Barack Obama
It will be fun to see how Trumka then pivots back to “Trump is an Anti-Union Hitler” and dutifully supports the Dems in the next election cycle.
Trumpka will get only some of what he wants. And ALL of what the rank and file want.
Politically splitting the Union monolith, priceless.
Trumka wants to KEEP his cushy, very-high-paying job.
He KNOWS who the Membership voted for, and Dems are no longer in positions of power nearly anywhere, so they cannot cover for him in return for Union Money.
Truck’s going to get himself run over, trying to jump in front of the Trump train, lol. His time is coming whether he realizes it yet or not. Unions have done a fair amount themselves, as far as making the US uncompetitive.
