In totality Ivy League grads have done tremendous damage to this country. Scalia and Thomas are the exception not the rule.
“Of course I agree with you but it makes me sad, thinking what a waste 41 and 43 were.”
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
Here’s something to make you even sadder - Bush Sr. was forced on Reagan as a concession to what we know today as the GOPe. This is a parallel to the present where the cognoscenti believed H-> was a shoo-in and thus totally shocked by the Trump victory. In 1980, TPTB knew Reagan couldn’t possibly win the nomination but when he did, they still were able to force Bush Sr. on him, along with others of their number in other influential positions.
I know that story. Very sad.
Reagan accepted the argument that “your best chance to beat Jimmy is with an establishment guy as your VP, and Bush is most establishment guy with the mostest”.
I am sorry for being so obtuse but what is “TPTB”? Thank you in advance.
Oxford &Harvard= Globalist red flags.
Will have to learn more about him before casting judgement on him a s pick, but clerking for Byron White and Anthony Kennedy is a red flag for me.
I think it means “The Powers That Be”.
“Interesting strategic options all around. “
Indeed, strategy and tactics.
Alas, my textuality has been waning.
Review on Amazon for his book, The Future of Assisted Suicide and Euthanasia, 2009.
“The Future of Assisted Suicide and Euthanasia provides the most thorough overview of the ethical and legal issues raised by assisted suicide and euthanasia—as well as the most comprehensive argument against their legalization—ever published.
“In clear terms accessible to the general reader, Neil Gorsuch thoroughly assesses the strengths and weaknesses of leading contemporary ethical arguments for assisted suicide and euthanasia. He explores evidence and case histories from the Netherlands and Oregon, where the practices have been legalized. He analyzes libertarian and autonomy-based arguments for legalization as well as the impact of key U.S. Supreme Court decisions on the debate. And he examines the history and evolution of laws and attitudes regarding assisted suicide and euthanasia in American society.”
That is because to get into these place any more, you have to do what you are told and be a goody two shoes Harvard or Yale whannabee from inside the womb. Independent thought judgment from experience, are not things that are valued any more.
Teddy Roosevelt and John Adams simply would not be admissible to Harvard these days.
So what you get are very clever but thoroughly obedient servants to the powers that be. Like Robert's sophomoric "it's a tax" - a retort so clever as to demand school-yard justice, but lacking any proportion of wisdom.
Our best ideas and best people now come from elsewhere. Look at our Sec Def or Sec State to be - accomplished and wise men who went nowhere near the Ivy League.
Pompeo's a puzzle in that regard. Will give him a pass on Harvard Law because he went to West Point and did a tour in the Gulf War.
But such waivers ought to be few and far between.
Clearly no open-borders globalist can have any knowledge of, or respect for, our former Constitution.
Once the swamp is completely drained, the major effort to restore the Republic and its Constitution can begin in earnest...
