Thousands of defiant New Yorkers filled President-elect Donald Trump’s backyard Thursday on the eve of his inauguration for a star-studded, full-throated statement of protest.
Joined by celebrities, government leaders and union organizers, angry protesters flooded Columbus Circle, Broadway and several blocks of Central Park West.
“There are those who are working to divide us,” said “Sex and the City” star Cynthia Nixon. “We are not going back. We’re not turning around.
“Yes we’ve had a setback. But we can see it as a setback or we can see it as a challenge. And where there is a challenge there is an opportunity to show that love, equality and unity can beat hatred and discrimination.”
Singer and actress Cher, who told the crowd she has lived through 12 Presidents, said protesters have to use their anger for good.
“The power of the people is bigger than those a-----es in Washington,” Cher said. “I tried not to have a potty mouth but that’s just me. You can change this. I promise.”
Demonstrators, led by filmmaker Michael Moore, Mark Ruffalo, Robert De Niro and Sally Field, crowded in front of Trump International Hotel and Tower to speak about a variety of issues including health care, labor rights, climate change and protection for immigrants, lesbians and gays.

Americans' choice was between a globalist anti-American criminal and a pro-American business man. They chose the one that has a common bond with them: abortion, pedophilia, abuse of power and pedestalizing homosexuals, lesbians and other assorted sexual freaks. The celebs do not really like protests. Oh, they enjoy that first wave of publicity that an announcement and 10 minute appearance brings. But, they are not used to being outside the velvet rope, standing in the rain with cardboard, yelling to be heard by passing VIP’s.
Trust me on this.
Oh, there are a few who can make a career out of some really traitorous action like Hanoi Jane, but the red carpet crowd has no staying power.
This will all be a distant memory by the time the next Presidential Ball happens.
