Folks, Nixon was pardoned before he was convicted.
You don’t have to be convicted, sentenced, and serving time to be pardoned.
I find it interesting that with all the rumors about a secret Sinaloa/Obama deal that the head of the Sinaloa is finally extradicted to the US literally THE DAY BEFORE Obama leaves office.

Life in prison, not the death penalty? How many hundreds or thousands of killings is this guy responsible for? Why should we pay for his food and board for the rest of his life?
There is no way the border would have been left open for so long without politicians of both parties on the take. The Mexican drug business makes tens of billions of dollars every year.
He should be first tried in whatever jurisdiction can impose the death penalty, and let’s hope for an honest prosecutor and judge.

But you do have to be brought up on charges or intent to file charges. Nixon faced articles of impeachment which would have led to criminal charges. So there was logical intent. The minute Comey said there were no charges being brought against Clinton, Obama lost his ability to pardon her. Now if Comey said, “At this time...” then Obama could have pardoned her.

In this instance, the guy would be farther along than Nixon.

I hope the DOJ has their case airtight so as to get a conviction and life sentence. They have been so sloppy in recent years I worry.
