Theresa May will set out a 12-point plan for Brexit as she vows that the UK will not have “partial” membership of the EU “that leaves us half-in, half-out”.

Dear FReepers: this is important breaking news. Please go to the article at the link.

Theresa May is committed to a 'proper' BREXIT - one that leaves the UK able to form its own trade agreements with the whole world, and that frees it from the odious EU customs union and from the European Court of Justice.

A lot of us in Britain had feared that the civil service, the courts and the Foreign Office would contrive to dilute BREXIT and end up defying the will of the people.

Well, they may yet. But Theresa's speech is the clearest possible declaration of intent.

It also signals that the environment for a clean BREXIT is good - i.e. we have trade deals lined up.

I don't think it hurt when Teddy Malloch recently declared that Great Britain would be at the "front of the queue". The US will now, after all, be the largest market in the world (i.e. larger than the EU without the UK).

So thank you President-Elect Trump. And thank you, American people. The prospects for a clean BREXIT, with new trade deals, got a lot better once the spectre of a Hillary! Whitehouse faded from view.

I’d love to see us do the same with Eastern Europe. I’m hoping, starting with Poland and Hungary, they will also bail from the EU.

Please note: the www.express.co.uk link - the third link in my post #2 - autoplays some quiet audio from Mr Malloch.

After a minute or so it then moves onto some trashy morning show.

The position of the “Visigrad Four” (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia ) is an interesting one.

They’re very sorry to see the UK go. We were their only allies in the EU.

I wonder if they could indeed escape from the EU customs union. One tension is that e.g. Poland is politically committed to maintaining EU levels of welfare payments (such as child support) for the diaspora of Polish workers across Europe.

If they left the EU, they would lose that. As ‘donor’ states for labour, the free movement of labor is much more important to the V4 than it is to the UK (which is a ‘recipient’ state).

Poland and Hungary are literally the biggest EU fanboys.

Poland is the biggest recipient of Union financial assistance, and also likes the EU the most. I'm sure it's just a coincidence.

Ugh, my post #5 made the argument the wrong way round.

The Visigrad 4 love the EU in part because it’s a place for their migrant workers to work and be relatively highly remunerated. The fact that they also get much better child support is a component of that.

“Global Britain”. She does NOT want an unraveling of the EU, wants EU to succeed. Listing reasons about the decision. Nothing so far about actually doing it...

That makes sense. This is going to be a clean break. It doesn't need to be an acrimonious one - unless the EU wants it to be.

The UK is committed to trade relations - including making a new deal with the EU.

I might personally hope for Theresa May to say something like. "I hope the EU breaks apart, and that Martin Schultz dies in a fire", but I can see how that would be impolitic :0)

Check your sources.

Christopher Steele was ex-MI6, and was commissioned to dig into Trump by the Washington-based firm FusionGPS.

Fuelled by anti-Trump fervor he made up some crap based on a Buzzfeed post.

That bed-wetting story was the American Left. Nothing to do with British Intelligence.

Yes, and yet to hear that Article 50 is being invoked. Also, she said the negotiated agreement would be submitted to Parliament for a final vote.

Check my sources? Snort. Which would you recommend? Has Whitehall issued a denial-denial? Because the only comment I’ve seen made was a non-denial denial.

Go Brexit.

Britains have been free and independent people an awful long time. No reason to let Germany conquer through the phony front EU what it couldn’t conquer with armies.
