Bribes, kickbacks, and all sorts of clever ways to steal the people’s money don’t come cheap.

This is the height of practical and fiscal insanity.

I can guarantee that after the first earthquake caused derailment that occurs at 200+mph and kills 300+ people, the ridership will drop by 80% and never recover.

They would literally be better off spending money to dig holes and then fill them. There will be the less spent if they stop when they expend the original budget and far fewer deaths in the long run.

And guess who was given a contract for the first section of it running from Madera to Fresno (where is Madera?)...none other than a construction company controlled by Diane Feinstein's husband, Richard Blum....smelly, smelly, smelly

especially because of the cost of $25 million per mile...really?

Did not the moonbats there pass this as a referendum item?

Let me do some math, 18 million voters in Cal give or take. The thing will cost in this part to build like $10B? So, just have each voter pay their fair share, $500 per voter, problem solved. They can call it the bullet train assessment. Oh, if you cannot pay, give em a pick or shovel and head them out to the desert. Shovel ready jobs ready.

This is like the metro in DC that cost mega billions to build back in the 70s. Cost was way overrun but it had the backing of the US taxpayer to spirit those bureaucrats about Potomac City. Now the thing is a death trap.

Rounding Point Conception might add a few hours to that! (It wasn’t in a cigarette boat, but a tuna boat and it took a couple of days).

That is unexpected. Who would have guessed that the contractors would milk this for all the charges that they could invent?

I thought they canceled this? Have they started digging anyway?
Either way, this would be a good time to stop.

Spot On. This project will make the overruns experienced with the Boston “Big Dig” project look penny ante.

The only question is, what will rise from the ashes?

We can't be sure. But I'd bet it will look more like Mexico than it will the California that used to be.

Break California into two states—North and south California. Or Succeed and print worthless money—California Dollars (or Pesos) Worth 10 cents—and pay all bills with the monopoly money. sadly, California is a rich state if they would open the land to oil leases.

The state will fall of its own corruption and be reborn. My bet—next election state Republicans will make a comeback—the Next Governor will be a GOP woman I believe her first name will be Carly.

As a side note to California-style project management, I appreciated every time Trump noted during his campaign that business and campaign-related projects were ahead of schedule and under budget.
