He must’ve not been able to hold a job as an engineer, so he switched to TV science...*ROFL*
I think he was a decent enough engineer...developed some landing gear stuff for Boeing. But he also developed training films for them - which probably gave him the tv ‘bug’. I don’t blame him for taking the more exciting path.
However, I’m a licensed engineer myself...and I guarantee his engineering pedigree gives him zero specialized knowledge about the planet’s climate.
He’s just a celebrity know nothing like the others.
