Not that upset about this, but can understand why some would be bothered.
A friend of mine in Seattle actually had his car stolen exactly this way. However, it was one of those classic early 80’s or late 70’s cutlass style cars that was all the rage for the while and it was in great shape - and most importantly he lived in a bad neighborhood. i.e. he was dumb to do it.
But the dumb ordinance is dumb. It’s the wrong solution. It takes away such a basic freedom: Property rights. Your vehicle is on your property and the cops have the right to step on it and ticket you in your own driveway.
The principle of the whole thing is just plain unamerican. And I rarely use that word. Come to think of it, this is the only time I think I’ve ever used it.
This is really upsetting to me. Did you hear the Police Chief mention the fact that 7-10 cars/year are stolen this way? Apparently the police believe this is aiding and abetting. Idiots.
