(MPN) A recent poll of cable news network viewers found that CNNs regular audience is far more skeptical of the political news they receive than Fox News fans.
In the poll published Wednesday by Rasmussen Reports, 1,000 likely voters were asked to describe their media viewing habits. Seventy-five percent said they watch at least some form of cable news each week, with 42 percent saying they most frequently watch Fox News, 35 percent usually choosing CNN, and 19 percent favoring MSNBC.
An even 50 percent of frequent Fox News viewers agreed with a followup question, Do you trust the political news you are getting? By comparison, 43 percent of frequent MSNBC viewers and just 33 percent of those who mostly watch CNN said they trust their political news.
According to a November survey by Rasmussen, 37 percent of voters still say they get most of their news from cable news networks. Voters in general were highly critical of the election coverage, with the strongest criticism coming from the 7 percent of those polled who said they mostly get their news from social media, rather than TV.
While once considered a pioneer of 24-hour TV journalism, CNN has faced criticism and accusations of bias over its political news coverage. During the 2016 election cycle, some viewers and analysts claimed CNN focused too much attention on the candidacy of Donald Trump, even to the point that it negatively impacted other candidates. Trumps former campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, worked at CNN for months as an on-air personality while maintaining notably close ties to the candidate.
In April, Bernie Sanders supporters protested outside of CNNs offices in Hollywood, claiming the networks reporters ignored their candidate. In October, CNN cut ties with frequent contributor-turned-interim Democratic National Committee Chair Donna Brazile after WikiLeaks archive of Hillary Clintons emails revealed Brazile gave Clinton advance notice of debate questions.
Since the election, CNN has been quick to embrace President-elect Trump. On Dec. 2, CNN reporter Cristina Alesci praised Trumps advisory board of wealthy CEOs, calling it a historic gathering. She continued:
I dont think that Ive ever seen anything quite like this before. Like I said before, this list really represents a bipartisan group of people, so hell have some very diverse viewpoints to tap into.
(snip)
I even deleted their channel from Sirius XM and replaced with MSNBC (!).
Why? I always trust them to be making $hit up.
I trust them to feed debate questions to Hillary - then pretend it’s ‘no big deal’... disgusting network.
CNN is the most trusted hews network.....in HELL.
It took a lot of hard work at CNN to take this title away from MSNBC.
>>>During the 2016 election cycle, some viewers and analysts claimed CNN focused too much attention on the candidacy of Donald Trump, even to the point that it negatively impacted other candidates<<<
Uh, what? Did someone manage to magically transfer me to an alternate Universe without me catching on?
So, how crazy do you have to be to know CNN is unreliable yet continue to be a part of the “regular audience?” Insanity is performing the same action repeatedly in the expectation of a different result.
Doesn’t seem to make a difference to CNN, they keep putting out the same old crap!
I don’t trust anything I hear or read. I trust my ability to ascertain the real news.
As someone who watches or flips on CNN almost daily, I can assure you that is most certainly NOT TRUE. In fact, CNN is the best place to see what the liberal attack of the day against Trump is.
I trust CNN on earthquakes and hurricanes. Otherwise, not so much.
I trust CNN for reliable fake news.
CNN is little different that ABC News when they have scum like George Stephanopoulos as an anchor.
This clown has been up the clintoons ass forever yet the network tries to show him as an unbiased creature.
And ABC is little different that NBC, CBS or ALL the other networks. Agenda driven, using dem operatives pretending to be journalists.
Does CNN have one straight white Christian male or reporter? If they do, it is a well kept secret. That part of the diversity program is missing
Once you get past the initial anger over bias, it really gets quite funny to see what they'll pretzel-twist today to fit their narrative.
,,,,,, I certainly hope that MSNBC will work a little harder to take title away and then CNN will be a 2nd place looser with very little glory still .
