The LEOs in Anchorage explained that although they had doubts about his mental state after interviewing him, they were forced BY LAW to return his gun & ammo, because those can only be confiscated after someone is Adjudicated Mentally Incompetent.
Look up the definition of the term. Hint: It says nothing about an LEO deciding on his own which citizens without criminal records are defined to be AMI, and can thus have their guns confiscated without court action.
The two LEOs that dies were the result of a criminal being on the loose for a month and had nothing to do with the FLL shooting. The first died when the perp walked out of a Wally World putting 8 or nine bullets into her. The second died in Orlando because in all of the chaos created due to an officer down, rammed his motorcycle into the side of a van. This shooting of an officer had nothing to do with the terrorist action done in FLL.
