One night this past fall, a U.S. radar plane flying a routine pattern over Syria picked up a signal from an incoming Russian fighter jet.

The American crew radioed repeated warnings on a frequency universally used for distress signals. The Russian pilot didn’t respond.

Instead, as the U.S. plane began a wide sweep to the south, the...[PAYWALL]

If another nation flies a warplane over your country, that is at minimum a provocation, at the maximum and act of war. I know how to stop this “frightening” thing from happening, quit flying sorties over sovereign territories. JUST STOP.

do a google news search for “russian jets”, and click from there. most sites exempt traffic from goole through their paywall; otherwise, it dorks up their SEOM.

And drop bombs on and kill military of said foreign country? And whatever happened to 'either you're with us or you're against us' in regard to Islamic terrorism? What happens when "us" is supporting "against us" to overthrow a secular, duly-elected government? You start needing Jesuitical moral reasoning to justify following orders when your assisting ISIS and AQ jihadis slaughtering Christians and other non-Salafists.

That is the question: Why are we flying in Syria?? We are not at war with them? The UN has not sanctioned a “no fly zone” as they did in Iraq. What is the purpose?

Lindsey Graham says that Russia is not our friend. He says this many times every day.

Russian planes are lawfully flying over Syria, ours are not.

“What is the purpose?”

Obama helped crate the so-called Arab Spring. The idea was to depose the secular governments and replace them with Muslim governments. Instead, it created chaos and death. There really appears to be no reasoned approach to what we are doing and why we are doing it. We are stirring the pot but to no good for anybody and at huge risk to American personnel. If we were protecting the Christians I would understand, but the Christians are pro-Assad as he let them live in peace. Virtually any other player will either enslave the Christians or kill them. So, yes, what ARE we doing over there?

One of our complaints is that they are not turning on their transponders. Yes, we want all aircraft fighting on the Syrian side, on a combat mission we oppose, to be squawking to ensure they are visible.

That’s how silly our leaders are.

The real problem in this, is that we see ourselves as running the sky over Syria and magnanimously offered to let Russia join us. (meaning fully accept OUR goals and leadership position there. Clearing targets with us, etc.)
They see themselves as legal and invited by an ally, and us as the rogues.

Dangerous times.

Russian and Syrian planes fly over Syria by, or with permission of the Syrian government

Some Israeli planes fly over Syria with the knowledge of the Syrian government, they don’t like it but both Syria and Russia understand they are primarily for intelligence/defensive purposes (with an occasional take-out of some sort of WMD or dangerous missiles) and both Syria and Russia coordinate with, or make sure not to try engaging them

What the hell are USA military planes doing over Syria!?????? Such flights constitute acts of war against Syria.... (and for what!?)

Obama continues to provoke, try to provoke war with Russia
...he just moved a bunch of heavy tanks right up to the Russian border, after aiming more missiles at them and after sending a bunch more American military men into Eastern Europe

can he manage getting away with actually setting off WW3 in his last 11 days?

Lindsey Graham says that Russia is not our friend. He says this many times every day.

In approx. 2008 I ran into Lindsey at Reagan National Airport. I said, "Hey Senator", and shook his hand. It was like shaking the hand of a fat, totally-paralyzed grandma. Such a wimpy creep. And I could've sworn he was a little sweet on me. Creeped me out and I made a beeline for the Metro.

Given that Russia was invited by the legally elected government of Syria to assist in their defense & Obama’s obvious support of ISIS cuttroat killer ‘rebels’, it is hard to see any moral justification for the USAF being in the airspace ......

We have no legal right to be in Syria. Absolutely none. Syria is a sovereign nation. Do the Chinese have rights to fly armed aircraft over Nebraska? I hope that Trump will call this aggression back unless the elected president of Syria asks for our help. We have no right to be in Syria and Congress has never declared war in Syria. GET OUT!!

I’ve been reading many accounts of why we are doing this reckless thing—it all leads back to McCain and Graham. Some say Lockheed Martin; some say a gas pipeline competition between global powers. What is very suspicious to me is how hard Graham tried to put Hillary into office. Evan McMullin was also in Syria when McCain was there in the pics above , as was Rep Kinzinger. You know that Graham wrote in McMullin for President—do crazy!! think something very awful is taking place—and Graham looks very scared.

.
I shall feel safe only after 0 has left the WH and Trump has been officially inaugurated the 45th POTUS. I shall never trust 0 as long as he lives. I shall always associate him with Hitler in his bunker wanting to drag Germany with him to wherever he was going. Why America has tolerated this sinister individual for so long and still does is incomprehensible. The SS has its work cut out in protecting Trump from physical harm. May God protect our future president today and always.
