do you think you can instantly give back 25,000+ items to everyone? How do you find out what belongs to whom.

True. And being Florida you can be sure a fair amount of grifters descend on this mess for ID theft purposes

Add another 0, it’s 25,000 and they have to be sure the right people claim each item.

A friend of outs had a diabetic relative affected by this. The family were concerned about her not having meds, food, or fluids for many hours. She’s OK, but everyone was worried.

“You aren’t separated longer than 1 minute.”

That minute was when many travelers were fleeing the airport, without even their shoes, much less life-saving meds in carry-ons, change to make a phone call, credit cards. Of course, it doesn’t happen often but it happens.

Passports and other IDs have photos.

Apparently either the TSA agents manning the security checkpoints (where people must remove belts, shoes, dental fillings, wallets, watches, et al) are unarmed or flee when there are ACTUAL armed violent threats in the airport.

Surprised there isn’t a total lockdown in the airports when someone is robbed in the parking lot. < /s >

Common Core is not your friend...250 x 100 is 25,000. Anyhow it still is here in Virginia.

ISIS in the USA has to be treated like what it is - the most heinous form of crime there is - worse than child pornography, worse than having sex with children. Lure them in and throw the book at them. This brutal crime at FLL extends far beyond the heinous gun murders.

The governor was there. I don’t know what the red cross supposed to do there, it wasn’t a natural disaster.

Yes it was. You need to read the entire article not just the excerpt to find out why the people were running

The Red Cross did come. From the article

-- snip --

Larry and Joy Edwards were about to board their flight home to Columbus, Ohio, after a Caribbean cruise. They ran out the skyway and down stairs onto the tarmac, where they were told to drop their carry-on bags and dash out to the runway. They eventually were taken to a hangar and bused to Port Everglades. That's where they spent most of the night.

"The Red Cross came. They gave us food and blankets and pillows. Everybody did what they could," Joy Edwards said.

I did read the article. And several others. From what I understand, this happened in Terminal 2, and the baggage claim area where the shooting took place, is on a separate level than the security checkpoint. I can fully understand people running for their lives in baggage, and leaving their belongings, but would you even hear the gunshots in the area of security on a different level ???

And they had their wallets and their baggage? Uh why?

They probably put the contents of their pockets in one of those little plastic trays to go through the conveyor scanner. I lost a purse at Heathrow in a freak situation -- wallet, keys, everything.

Great observation. Only in America can people not go without food for a period of hours.

To make a change based on 1 event is like asking for a change in gun laws based on an event. There’s no way around being separated from that minute.
