Donald Trump is now the real, official, actual, no-more-doubt-about-it president-elect of the United States, after Congress certified the results of the electoral college Friday.
Not for lack of Democrats' efforts, mind you. House Democrats objected to 10 states' electoral votes being awarded to Trump, but none of them were able to get a senator to join in their objection, as required. Hence, a quixotic effort failed.
Again.
All along Trump's path to the White House, nearly every political process has featured some kind of effort to thwart him by manipulating the rules and otherwise Doing Whatever It Took to stop him. With the last of those efforts failing, we thought it worth a retrospective. Get ready for a trip down memory lane.

This is great for the country and the Amerucan people.
Let's "make America great again"
Hope the Dems will also fail in trying to stop Trump's agenda.
They’re already saying he should be impeached for stuff they say he will do.
Wa, wa, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...
Imagine how frustrated the Left is right now.
Next they’re going to have to find someone to blame.
Obama? Hillary? One of you is going to get the lion’s share of this blame.
He's been that way since about midnight on election night.
In retrospect,
Best ELECTION EVER!
Wrong attitude. Burn the Left to the ground and salt their hovels.
It’s what they were expecting to do to us until karma caught up with them.
I assume they are not done. I expect they will call on the chief justice to refuse to swear Trump in.
Kudos to the Senate.
The democrats in Congress have proven to the American people through all these actions just how much they disdain the Constitution and the country as a whole...They have proven that their only concern is their own cushy position in DC...
I hope beyond hope that many, many blue collar democrats are embarrassed by the actions of liberal elitist democrats that have tried to pull all BS against a duly elected president...
If only 38 states call for a flash Constitutional Convention before January 20th, Evan McMullin could be installed as President!
"Donald Trump provides the unique opportunity, er, threat, which allows, er, requires us to repeal the Republic and rule by fiat", said the sponsor of the new effort, John Q. Fascist.
Under the plan, the new Constitution would be ratified by conference call.
"It could be done", said some loser nobody has ever heard of.
"Highly unlikely, but interesting", said a well-connected Washington type, under condition of anonymity.
/sarcasm
The article missed Mitt’s speech trashing Trump, Bill Kristol’s “magic candidate” which never materialized and the failed coup attempt where locker room banter would surely make Trump retreat in disgrace handing over the candidacy to Mike Pence.
I look back now in utter amazement
I am amazed that I am reading this from the Washington Post. Perhaps I am drunk and only imaging this. However, I went back and read the article again. They really did say it. I think?
Perhaps I need to increase my meds! /S
Not so fast. Obama still has almost 2 weeks to start a war with Russia and declare martial law.
Should never have even tried. Very bad mistake.
In my lifetime, they have literally tried several times. God keeps rescuing us.
Ok, tin foil hat time. The left has prepped all of those FEMA camps, and they won’t want those to go to waste. So, what if they do their best (worst) and use the internal gov forces to try to stop Trump on or before Inauguration Day? The right, of course, will not let that stand, and the left will not allow the right to prevail, hence the convenient usage of the FEMA camps.
Hopefully this is only the premise of a good fiction novel...
Actually, a realistic, worthwhile analysis story by the Compost. I am surprised.
