A couple days ago, I wrote a short note to a business client in Germany telling I was praying for safety against terrorists.
He wrote back saying, "Actually very few people die because of terrorists acts -- many more die from auto accidents but nobody notices."

I didn't respond back because I didn't want to bicker over politics.
However, thinking about it a bit, you realize terrorism is a grave and very insidious problem.
Auto deaths are a terrible thing, too, but people know the risks when they drive.
But when you add up attacks on a nightclub in Orlando and an airport in Fort Lauderdale, etc., the collateral damage from fear is huge. If terrorism is not controlled and the borders are not secure, people will stop traveling, stop using airplanes, and not go out to restaurants. The whole tourism industry will tank. International visitors will shy away from travel to the US.
People need to feel safe. If they do not, then a national malaise sets in, and America's evolution to banana republic becomes real.
Obama told his audience that, because some folks had the courage to “march across a bridge” in Selma, Alabama, his mother, a white woman from Kansas, and his father, a black Muslim from Africa, took heart. It gave them the courage to get married and have a child. The problem with that characterization is that Barack Obama, Jr. was born on August 4, 1961, while the first of three marches across that bridge in Selma didn’t occur until March 7, 1965, at least five years after Obama’s parents met.
That reminds of HRC claiming she was named after Sir Edmund Hillary, who became world famous *after* her birth.
Typical brainwashed (and subtly arrogant) Left-wing German. Perhaps they deserve their fate.
