Was listening to Fox news today as they reported this story. Of course they had to bring on some ex cops, both from New York. They both mentioned HR 218 and how it now allowed people to check guns in baggage like it was a new thing. Both reporters agreed with them. HR 218 refers to current and retired LEOs carrying concealed weapons. I wish that Fox would learn that California or New York cops know as much about gun laws as I know about the workings at the event horizon of a black hole. I would love to be able to call in and point out just how ignorant or how big a liar these guys are while they are on air.

Many "beat cops" are utterly and completely oblivious to firearms laws.
The media would be wise to consult with known legal experts in that area.

Funny how govt always has people so ready to comment on such “random acts”.

.............................................................
For over thirty years I have been traveling internationally with firearms. Rules vary only slightly with different carriers or different countries. Normally, I check my baggage through, then check my firearms through at a special counter which handles “special attention” baggage. Personally, I never travel with ammo, but could according to the laws. My brother, who often goes on Safari, does carry ammo on his flights.
In France, in order to transport firearms in a car, train, bus, or plane, one must possess a hunting license, or FFT Membership. England is spastic about firearms, so I never fly through England when carrying arms. Sweden requires permission to enter the country with firearms, otherwise they may be left in storage with officials at the airport if one is passing through. As I said, there are slight variations, but generally it’s easy to be informed. In 2015, I landed at Fort Lauderdale with two long guns in a single case and the barrel of my Model twelve in my suitcase. No problem.
