SORRY....he had a FIGHT on the PLANE!!! HELLO!!!!!
Army status had nothing to do with his pistol in the baggage. Any American can do that.
AFAIK, former NG and Army servicemen have no special privileges for traveling with weapons on commercial aircraft. He reportedly did exactly what the TSA requires of any permitted weapons carrier. The perp is reported to have checked his weapon and ammo in a locked, hard-sided container which was in checked baggage. He then retrieved his checked baggage, took it to a bathroom, loaded his weapon, came out and began firing.
He went AOL in 15 and got a General discharge or whatever it is called.
A guy who walks in to the FBI and tells him that he has voices directing him to download ISIS videos and follow ISIS IMO should not be allowed to, at the very least, transport a gun on a plane.
Absolutely wrong, wrong, wrong ...
lots of people carry weapons on flights. If you go to Alaska to hunt, you can carry your rifles in the baggage hold as long as you jump through the hoops necessary to do it. My cousin went up there hunting once and he took his rifles with him. It is legal carry in the cargo hold. BUT, he was not allowed to carry ammo. THAT was the catch as should have been here.
