Trump Tweets: ... the Great Wall (for sake of speed), will be paid back by Mexico later!

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump

The dishonest media does not report that any money spent on building the Great Wall (for sake of speed), will be paid back by Mexico later! 3:19 AM - 6 Jan 2017

-------------------------------Snip-----------------------------------------------

President-elect Donald Trump opened the news agenda this Friday morning with a 3AM tweet about the new border wall referring to it as the "Great Wall" while clarifying what the dishonest media deliberately fails to report.

Initially U.S. money will be utilized for the "sake of speed," and later, Mexico will be reimbursing the building cost of the border wall.

His incoming administration has been considering to request that Congress will ensure that the necessary funding is available for the border wall. There is already existing legislation passed, the Secure Fence Act of 2006, which enabled 700 miles of division (fencing and other technology) to be built along the U.S.-California / Mexican border.

The Secure Fence Act of 2006 was passed in the House of Representatives (283-138), then passed in the Senate (80-19) and was signed by President Bush (Pub.L. 109–367) into law stating, “This bill will help protect the American people. This bill will make our borders more secure. It is an important step toward immigration reform."

The law authorized vehicle barriers, checkpoints, lighting, and authorized DHS to increase the use of advanced technology including cameras, satellites, and drones to reinforce infrastructure at the border.

By utilizing the existing law, the border- "Great Wall" will be erected expeditiously without a legislative fight in Congress. Mexico will reimburse American taxpayers for a new border wall and it will help protect the American people.

The border needs to be secured as soon as possible for the safety and general welfare of American citizens. Congress overwhelming passed the means to secure our southern border ten years ago with the Secure Fence Act-2006. They must fund it immediately.

Americans deserve to have their own country rather than an open bordered chaotic fiasco. We are a nation of people that demand to be protected by our government within our homeland.

I never cared about the cost of the wall or who would pay for it.

Cut foreign aid to countries that hate us.
Cut funds to the “arts”
Cut funds to sanctuary cities.
Cut funds to global warming research.

Tax money transfers to Mexico

Impose tariffs on Mexico

Money should be the least of our worries.

Here we go... Enabled by our crappy media the left, nevertrumpers, Levin, etc. will make payment of the wall a bigger issue than securing our borders.

Sign me up for ignoring all of it. The fact that we do not have a secure border is a risk to American lives and livelihood. It has to be done. I do not doubt that one way or another Mexico will be paying, give it time.

I think this is a picture of the border "barrier" between New Mexico and old Mexico.

He remembers his promises.

I am willing to bet he will tax money transfers to Mexico. That will pay for the wall in the first few months!

People are not used to a professional negotiator at the helm. He continues to stake out bargaining positions, 140 characters at a time.

Excellent! The debate is now over will Mexico pay for it, or not, as proclaimed by the PE. I do not care and it is no shame to have the US pay for it. Trump and his supporters are going to get a “wall”. That is a win. Even if the wall is a fence in some areas still win.

They’re sure trying but it may be getting overwhelmed by ‘The Great Wall’ -which he likely dropped like a Boom, intentionally.

The first thing I thought of when he was campaigning on the wall issue was the SFA-2006. Last spring, I posted at least two threads about to FR.

Everyone wanted the wall post 9-11. It took them five freaking years to pass legislation-finally & overwhelmingly.

Congress approved $1.2 billion in a separate DHS spending bill to bankroll the fence. That’s about $5 billion less than what was needed.

The bigger deal is that he circumvents Congress by using the SFA2006.

He doesn’t need their stinking votes are 9 month headache.

Thanks George Bush, he signed this into law.

He may have never wanted to see a wall, or see it funded. But he signed the legislation.

Thanks W.

I have no doubt Mex will pony up the pesos for the wall. I wouldn’t be surprised to learn they’ve already started to pay for it either directly or indirectly.

Totally agree. I always thought the insistence on Mexico paying for the wall was silly. We should build the wall because it is in our own interest to do so. Building it will more than pay for itself in decreased welfare payments to illegals.
