How about we all take some responsibility for our own medical care? I have a file of all my labs and check-up letters from the doc for the last 35 years and I graph all my lab work data.

If I get a new doctor I hand him the file. When I do go to the doctor for something I monitor what he prescribes.

I don’t want to go to the hospital. I hope I can just crawl out with the cows and die.

There’s more to ACA beyond the mandatory records—it is my understanding that insurance companies are experiencing great losses because the ACA mandates that a policy cannot be canceled for 60 or 90 days for nonpayment of premiums. So with the help of SJW’s spreading the word, they pay one month’s premium, make their claims, (remember everything is covered) and never pay again. The insurance company cannot list their policy as canceled until this time limit has passed—so the providers (hospitals, doctors, etc.) keep treating the deadbeats and don’t get paid.

You are correct but there is even more to it than that I’m sure.

I have not seen one facet of barky care that is practical or not flawed in some way.

The ONE thing of the whole mess I can reasonably agree with is that insurance does not get to just insure people who don’t need insurance. Only insuring healthy people is almost like only providing car insurance for people who have cars but don’t drive them.

The ACA was shoved on us as “everybody needs insurance.” This is not insurance, insurance is a shared risk. There is no risk in the ACA. Just pandering to the unresponsible, imprudent, perpetual children of our population. Responsible mature people get insurance because they may need it later on. They are planning ahead so they are protected when something bad happens. By forcing coverage of pre-existing conditions right away, there is no need to plan ahead. Someone else will always pick up the tab.

You have NO idea about how the medical community has sunk to low standards since LBJ’s policies. 0bembacare has simply made it worse.

6 page minimum printout””

All of this from the people who for years have DEMANDED that we save the trees-—don’t use paper-—do everything electronically.

There are over 14,000 different codes for any damage that we can have happen to our bodies.

I don’t think there even 14,000 parts to my body!!!

My chiropractor works with 1 partner. They used 2 girls to take care of the paperwork. She used to get Medicare payments between 90-120 days later. Now—under Obamacare, they had to hire another person JUST TO DO THE CODING & her accounts Receivable is up to 18 months. She no longer takes any Medicare customers.

I moved from So Calif to N Calif in 1993. I called all my medical docs—including dentist & eye care doc. I asked for a copy of all my records, so I would give it all to any new doc U needed up north. I made it clear I would pay for the copying costs.

I was refused-—told those records were NOT mine—they belonged to he medical practice ONLY.

IMO, this entire Obamacare system is meant to be so large & expensive & impossible to use on purpose. It is more the the theme of “overwhelm the system until it breaks completely’.

It all started with Shrillary-—she wanted to completely control the entire medical system like Canada-—because in the 90’s, the health system represented over 14% of the GDP. She wanted to limit how many new doctors could enter medical school & she wanted to set their prices nationwide. The enrollments in the medical system took a dive & today, with all the other problems. we are in a shortage position.

Just curious. What training do these “scribes” have? Is is a good field for our youth to investigate?

Not sure about that. Imagine something along the lines of medical transcription it's.

A cardiologist I know was partners with two others and they had two clinics. He told me they would have to increase their patient load by 33% to stay in business.

Both of their offices are closed and they’re back working for the hospital.

No, it sounds more like someone needs to audit the old paper records. Switching to a system that is easier to audit shouldn’t cause a big loss of income unless someone was cooking the books before.

I have watched “patient transport” move a family member from one room to another and often thought that they had at least two more people than necessary. It seemed that no one had given a moment’s thought to efficiency.

My wife has chronic medical problems and fights the battle against unwarranted billing continouosly. Fortunately she is highly intelligent amd has a background of handling payables and receivables and working in a doctor’s office, there is no telling how much a less aware and qualified person might be cheated out of.

For merely questioning my property insurance bill I saved almost a third.

“Clerical Errors” ware made by State Farm in figuring the coverage.

Property description not correct.
Did not get acres right by about half
“loyalty” discount not applied
Hail resistant steel roof discount not applied
Wrong contents coverage
Etc.

Beware of everything is a good plan. I think the hired help just clicks buttons with very little thought for what they are actually doing.

“electronic medical record system was introduced. Therefore, more physician time was spent”

Part of the ACA was that physicians are required to do their own entry into an EHR instead of dictation or other means such as a paper chart.

Spoken like a guy who does not work here.

Do you get to work in one of those offices that only costs $500,000 to fit out? http://www.sciencemag.org/news/2013/05/lavish-furnishings-md-anderson-cancer-center-questioned

And the new broom did a good job of sweeping out effective medical doctors while bringing in carpetbagging ‘researchers’ and buttering up the Obama regime, http://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/houston-texas/houston/article/DePinho-s-big-fight-7182843.php , http://www.modernhealthcare.com/article/20150408/NEWS/150409909

No, I don’t work there (I’ve spent most of my career cleaning up after financial disasters), but if I did, I don’t think I’d brag about it.
