Iirc CA abolished the death penalty in the 70s and death sentences were commuted to life in prison. Those commutations were not reversed when the death penalty was reinstated. Manson’s sentence was one of those commuted, I think.

I’m curious about what happens when he dies. Did he marry that woman who was visiting him? Does he have family who will claim his body? Where will he be buried? He still has followers and his grave could become a sort of shrine to the looneys.

He has kids, their identities aren’t widely promoted but there have been articles about them.

He may also be buried by the State. Consider that the Boston bomber got a burial in the US even though this was not his homeland.
