Mark Zuckerberg has given more weight to the idea that he could move into politics with the announcement of a statesmanly personal challenge for 2017.
In previous years the Facebook CEO has learned Mandarin, pledged to run at least a mile each day and built a virtual assistant called Jarvis to control his home. This year he wants to have visited and met people in every state in the US. Hes already visited about 20 states, which means he has to travel to about 30 states by the end of the year.
After a tumultuous last year, my hope for this challenge is to get out and talk to more people about how theyre living, working and thinking about the future, he said in a Facebook post announcing the challenge.
For decades, technology and globalization have made us more productive and connected. This has created many benefits, but for a lot of people it has also made life more challenging. This has contributed to a greater sense of division than I have felt in my lifetime. We need to find a way to change the game so it works for everyone.

Talk about delusional.
Is he going to all 57?
I wonder if he can even identify the middle states without using computer help or a “map”.
He might want to skip Chicago.
ha...snowflake meets redneck.
State of COW
State of COW
Zuckerberg is only worth $50 billion and only has a couple hundred million FB members in the US. With that, he may be able to reach some voters, but not enough with his message.
*rolls eyes*
That’s great, Mark, because 30 million Republicans are gonna cross over and choose your strongest challenger in the Dem primaries, now that we don’t have to worry about Trump being primaried.
He’s a real man of the people.
How many bodyguards does this fakebook have?
If he runs and acts like a liberal progressive you can bet facebook stock would drop as millions would desert it. I know a whole lot of conservatives who use facebook and they would not hesitate to walk away from it.
I think they are right. First, the announcement that he’s no longer an atheist (as if anyone was interested) and now the canvassing. We know he’s political, we can tell by how he runs Facebook. He’s gearing up for 2020.
Really; is this why he has suddenly found religion ..??
I don’t think his aspersion is for public office.
I think he wants to use FB and his money to influence policy in some sort of PAC.
If would be a PAC with billions and a massive communications platform.
He won’t run for office.
I agree that zukerberg is political. Further, Trump’s win has upped his ambitions, so a white house bid is not out of the question.
I would be surprised however if ran for the white house in 2020. He will be 36 that year or just one year above the minimum age requirement of 35.
He might run in 2024 however.
