I have a relative who works on the North Slope. Polar bears galore and -20F every day. Perfect for an EPA headquarters.

I have read and seen this story on two separate conservative websites, but other than that, nothing... Are John Daniel Davidson and Matt Vespa writing an article with present day names or is their only source, Jack London? I don’t have a problem beleiving this, I just like to have names other than writers involved in the story, especially if the story moves me, and mumblings of the EPA is not a source. Sometimes, it’s better to check on these things yourself, instead of using this instance in a conversation and find out it’s just another story designed to enlighten the lazy with what they deserve for also being gullible.

Must be a lot of chimney fires from all the creosote and whatever other nasties can be in some of that stuff.

Hyperbole notwithstanding, I think it’s wrong (and contrary to our laws) to advocate a cruel and usual punishment, even for those who advance harmful nonsense at the EPA.

That’s a really good point, PJ.

If we carefully managed the woods and trees, our forest fires might be less of a problem.

I think I could even support the Federal government selling the wood commercially.

Take the EPA officials who thought up this idiot policy and drop them off in the Alaska wilderness with a pile of kindling and no matches. Let them contemplate the error of their ways for 24 hours.

It’s NOT just Alaska!

http://www.sparetheair.org

This is what we have to put up with in the SF Bay Area. Funny thing is, the “alerts” generally occur when it is clear and cold. Beyond this crap, you can’t put in a wood-burning stove here any longer.

Threatening to cut of Federal transportation funds is a riot too, perhaps they should try building roads berore they threaten to defund them.

The image of some greenie chcihako trying to deliver stop burning notices house to house at -20 below while trying to ride a bicycle on ice trailed by a polar bear just tells the tale of the severe reality disconnect liberals have.

Though I imagine delivering warm lunches to polar bears would be a good use of the EPA resources, I would hate to mangle up good bikes.

Us, too. We’re in the South, but it still gets cold here,
too. FANG cuts down dead trees and also trees that have
been felled by storms. He got an automatic log splitter
several years ago and that has been VERY helpful. We pick
up sticks and small limbs and also use crumpled newspapers
to layer the fire to get it started. I compost & have for
30 yrs., so they just as well shut up at me about composting
being “bad” for the environment.

Actually there is, but i believe the more deadly fires are caused by folks using electric heaters, overloading the circuits. Most homes nowadays have gone hydronic heating. And our homes are super insulated. Amazes me when i go to Oahu, no insulation at all, my house in Alaska the walls are 10” thick.

Move EPA offices to Fairbanks and don’t let them heat with anything.

Well, hopefully things will change once the Trump administration takes over on January 20.

Yes; it will get worse and be widely reported. And the long-absent homeless will suddenly reappear, like magic!

How much “small particle pollution” results from all the wood burning stoves in Alaska together as opposed to, say, one small forest fire started by a lighting strike?

Several years' worth, I should imagine.
