Huston Smith, a renowned scholar of religion who pursued his own enlightenment in Methodist churches, Zen monasteries and even Timothy Learys living room, died on Friday at his home in Berkeley, Calif. He was 97.
His wife, Kendra, confirmed his death.
Professor Smith was best known for The Religions of Man (1958), which has been a standard textbook in college-level comparative religion classes for half a century. In 1991, it was abridged and given the gender-neutral title The Worlds Religions. The two versions together have sold more than three million copies.

If you read this guys life in the obit, it is a perfect example of what happened to is and why we have tanked as a nation and as a society.
So-called experts on world religions are invariably wolves in sheep’s clothing.
They are leftists who infiltrate and subvert from within, in order to lead others astray.
Sorry. It was a pretty thorough text and reasonably even handed. I still have mine and use it as reference. Maybe he was messed up but even a broken clock is right twice a day.
I’m not talking about his text book.

Witness Joseph Campbell at The Skywalker Ranch being interviewed by Bill Moyers. An enormous amount of garbage. He has all the discernment that Peter Jennings displayed when he did his show on Jerusalem.
But then, Peter Jennings dated PLO Hanan Ashrawi, so.......
In the September 2, 2012, issues of the Huffington Post and Jerusalem Post, American Jewish Committee Executive Director David Harris in his article “Hanan Ashrawi Is to Truth What Smoking Is to Health”[21][22] wrote that Ashrawi “has just earned a gold medal in historical revisionism” for asserting “there were no Jewish refugees from Arab countries. Instead, according to her, there were only ‘emigrants’ who left their ancestral homes voluntarily. Jews were not singled out for persecution, and if they were, it was, in reality, a plot by ‘Zionists’.”

Prayers for his soul.
A good fellow who taught many. He will be missed.
In college, studied a text called Religions of America by Leo Rosten. I am not sure if it was the same Leo Rosten who was the famous Jewish humorist, but this was a serious work. It is a very even handed approach where he asks essentially the same question to recognized leadership in each religion featured.
It is one of the few texts which I still use.
Sorry. I have nothing to judge him by other than his solder books.
He knows the truth now. Perhaps too late.
Christ is merciful to those who come to him on their own. This guy had a COEXIST bumper sticker before they were cool, so I doubt he was saved, but only Christ knows.
