The leak exposed personal data including Social Security numbers to the assigned posts of critical members of the US military, some of whom hold the highest levels of security clearance.

A Pentagon subcontractor has exposed reams of highly sensitive details belonging to active military healthcare professionals online, some of which hold top-secret security clearances.

Potomac Healthcare Solutions, a subcontractor brought on board to supply healthcare professionals to the US government and military organizations through its Washington, DC.-based contractor Booz Allen Hamilton, was the source of the data leak...

And, if I remember correctly, Edward Snowden was also a Booz Allen Hamilton employee.

Decades ago a local semi conservative radio talk show host discussed the dangers of using our SSn’s with our health insurance.

I always felt uneasy that our most powerful # could be easily accessed by a disgruntled and/or low paid person in a hospital, clinic, lab or doc’s office.

In about two years we have had data exposure of our SS#’s by our local hospital and recently by BCBS.

SO was Harold Martin. Perhaps the gubmint should rethink giving Booz Allen access to sensitive info.

Why are they still a contractor? All of this stuff needs to be reviewed.

Minority set aside/affirmative action contractor, of course:

“November 5, 2015
The Virginia Department of Minority Business Enterprise has renewed, for an additional three years, Potomac Healthcare Solutions’s certification as a Small Business. Classification as a Small, Women, and Minority Business (SWaM) enables us to compete for Commonwealth contracts set-aside for SWaM enterprises and also provides for certain scoring preferences in the proposal evaluation process.”

You really have to ask? Because they aren't a bunch of Middle Aged White Guys (MAWGs), of course.

Actually they are a big part of the corporate/government revolving door. When one party looses power such as with the Obama administration there are thousands of people who loose their government jobs.

They go to places like Boos Allen where they get jobs until their party gets back in power.

Boos Allen is probably the biggest corporate well fair receiver in the country. The government contracts with them to draft meaningless reports/recommendations and assessments that no one ever reads.

Both Dems and Repubs play the game because they never know when they might be the one looking for work.

That may be true but it is importing an American culture threatening anti-civilization they think will fit right in.

With the New America evidently.

A secret is no longer secret when it has been shared with another person. When it is put into a data file it has been shared with the whole world as they learn the password, which eventually they will.

Generally, there are several companies waiting to take over small business set asides as soon as they are issued as about 90% of them fail. Most of them take huge advance payments, piddle around and then go bankrupt. It’s endemic to the DC area and other major contracting areas. Most contracting agencies just build it in to the cost of doing business.

Best I ever dealt with was 51% owned by the woman managing partner, with a 49% male partner. I only wasted my time dealing with her once; she couldn’t make any decisions without ‘consulting’ with him. After that, I called him directly and everything was taken care of properly and promptly, with her signing when needed. And I got my minority contracting credit, they got paid, and the work got done.

That aside, some minority and women owned firms are as good as you find anywhere; some can be real disasters. If you find a good one, pump as much business to them as they can handle to keep your numbers right while getting work done.

If you got one that works, keep it quiet (don’t let your competitors know) and keep on using them.

Every person that has access to a .MIL is required to complete an annual on-line training session. I guess this person thought the training was there to “get out of the way” and not explicit directives. The training clearly covers this among many other behaviors.
