No, Garner, the man who left his city job as a gardener because of some “disability,” was a public nuisance, who interfered with legal businesses with his illegal activities. The police were there because of a call by a citizen and landowner complaining about the men hanging around in front with legal businesses, hassling customers. Then, Garner chose to put his own poor health at risk by choosing to resist the numerous officers who obviously weren’t going to let him go his time. You are an enemy of civilization.

Holy Crap!

I express my dismay at police enforcing minor taxes, and I get accused of working at Salon and being an enemy of civilization. You guys need to put down the energy drinks...you are wound way too tight.

I never said the guy was a model citizen. But this thread is about how police have changed. My premise is that, as the public face of a huge bureaucracy, the police are hated when the bureacracy and all their major and minor infringements on our liberties are to blame. I gave this as an example of this.

I thought this a conservative news discussion forum. Your response, combined with your handle, lead me to believe you are a wannabe tyrant. Just the kind of guy who has no business being a police officer.
